Balcony doors open onto Lan Ha Bay so you can watch dawn mist without leaving your cabin, then step straight into a two day rhythm of kayaking, swimming and village cycling. The vessel keeps guest numbers low, which means shorter waits for gear and more time talking with crew between activity blocks.
After pickup from Hanoi, Ninh Binh or Cat Ba you board at Cai Beo Port and settle into a balcony cabin before lunch on deck. The afternoon sails through islets toward kayak zones at Dark and Bright caves when conditions allow, with swimming from the boat and sunset time on your private outdoor space before dinner.
Breakfast on day two comes with bay views, then a tender to Viet Hai for cycling or an electric cart through the national park village. Lunch on the return sail is followed by leaving the boat, often on Cat Ba when your fare ends on the island rather than returning to Hanoi the same day.
Lan Ha Bay offers sheltered channels for kayaking and quieter night anchorage away from the largest Ha Long traffic lanes. Balcony cabins face the karst scenery so you can watch light change on the water between activities.
The Viet Hai valley segment adds a national park ride through forest tunnel and rice paddies, giving a land based contrast to the overnight sail. Floating homes and fishing skiffs still appear along the cruise track.
No kayaking experience is needed. You should be comfortable overnight on a boat, able to manage short tender steps and happy on easy village cycle paths.
Pack soft bags, swimwear and a light jacket for evening breezes on the balcony. Crew fit life jackets for paddling and brief safety before kayaks launch.
Balcony cabins suit guests who want fresh air and privacy after active blocks without chartering a whole vessel. Crew still cap passenger numbers so meal service and tender runs stay calm even when the deck is busy.
Kitchen teams prepare local seafood and vegetarian plates when you share dietary needs ahead of travel. Skippers adjust cave entries or swim stops with the same flexibility used on longer running Gulf routes.
Pickup may be from Hanoi Old Quarter, Ninh Binh or direct at Cat Ba depending on the rate you purchase.
Allow a full morning for road transfers from Hanoi. Your confirmation shows whether the package ends on Cat Ba or includes a return bus.
Swimwear, comfortable shoes for cycling, light layers for evening breezes on the balcony, sun protection and a soft overnight bag.
Bring motion-sickness tablets if you are sensitive on overnight boats, plus a dry bag for cameras during kayaking.
Most routes board at Cai Beo Port on Cat Ba after a road transfer from Hanoi, Hai Phong or Ninh Binh depending on your fare.
Your confirmation lists the pickup window and meeting point. Arrive a few minutes early for tender transfer to the cruise boat.
Kayaking around Dark and Bright caves is included when sea conditions and park rules allow, with life jackets and a short safety talk before you enter the water.
Guides stay near the group in lagoon areas. You may remain on the cruise boat if you prefer not to kayak that day.
Balcony rooms give you private outdoor space between kayaking, meals and village visits, so you can sit outside and watch the karst walls without sharing a sundeck bench.
Exact layout and bed configuration depend on the cabin category on your ticket. All rooms sit on the same small vessel with shared activity programming, meals and tender runs.
Lunch and dinner on day one and breakfast and lunch on day two are included on standard packages, with seafood and vegetarian dishes prepared by the onboard kitchen.
Mention dietary needs ahead of travel so the galley can plan alternatives. Some drinks sit outside the meal plan and you can buy those on board if you want them.
Families are welcome and child fares may be available depending on the sailing date and cabin layout you choose for your group.
Adults should supervise children on decks, tenders and kayaks at all times. Crew may postpone cave paddling for very young guests when the sea is choppy, while still keeping meals and village visits on the plan.
Many fares end on Cat Ba island after lunch on day two, which is handy if you already have a hotel on the island or want extra time ashore.
Other fares include a bus back toward Hanoi. Your confirmation shows the finish point and whether onward transport is part of that day's plan, so you can arrange the rest of your stay accordingly.
Bring swimwear, comfortable shoes for cycling, light layers for evening breezes on the balcony, sun protection and a soft overnight bag.
Pack motion sickness tablets if you are sensitive on overnight boats, plus a dry bag for cameras during kayaking.
The captain may alter routes, skip cave kayaking or adjust tender timings when wind, rain or swell affect safety.
Follow crew instructions on the day. The operator will explain next steps if the departure cannot run safely.
We recommend insurance that covers water activities, cycling and overnight travel in Vietnam, including medical evacuation if you are far from hospital.
Personal belongings and missed connections due to traffic delays are your responsibility unless your policy states otherwise.
Yes. You can enjoy the balcony or sundeck while others paddle when you prefer a rest spell on the water, and the crew will keep you included at meal times.
Village visits still run according to the daily plan, so you can join the Viet Hai cycle or take a quieter option if you would rather stay near the landing.
