Your sea kayaking adventure starts at the South Quay Car Park in Mousehole, a charming harbour village on Cornwall’s west coast. After a warm welcome, you’ll receive a briefing from your expert guide on kayaking safety and technique. You’ll then be fitted with all the necessary equipment, including a wetsuit, buoyancy aid, helmet, and paddle. Once ready, the tour begins in the sheltered waters of Mousehole’s harbour, where your guide will show you the basics of paddling and help you get comfortable in your kayak.
From there, you’ll venture out along the coastline, paddling through sheltered coves and exploring some of Cornwall’s most beautiful and secluded sea caves. The crystal-clear waters offer incredible views of the marine life below, and your guide will share local knowledge about the area’s diverse ecosystems, wildlife, and coastal history. You’ll be able to spot seals, seabirds, and even dolphins in the open ocean. The tour typically lasts around two hours on the water, but with time for changing and preparation, the total duration is approximately 2-3 hours.
This tour is perfect for beginners, as the guide will provide instruction throughout the session, ensuring that you’re comfortable with the basics of kayaking before heading into open waters. Experienced paddlers will also appreciate the opportunity to explore Cornwall’s coastline from a unique vantage point, all while enjoying the natural scenery. The flexible approach to the pace of the tour ensures that you can enjoy the experience without being rushed, making it perfect for a relaxing day out.
This sea kayaking tour is based in Mousehole, located in the far west of Cornwall. The meeting point is South Quay Car Park, The Wharf, Mousehole, TR19 6RT, a scenic spot with views of the village’s harbour and surrounding coastline. Mousehole is known for its quaint charm and dramatic coastal views, making it a perfect starting point for a kayaking adventure.
If the weather conditions aren’t suitable for kayaking in Mousehole, an alternative nearby location will be provided, such as the Lizard Peninsula or Hayle Estuary, ensuring you get the best experience regardless of the weather.
No prior kayaking experience is needed to take part in this tour, as the session is suitable for people of all abilities. The expert guides will ensure that you are given the essential kayaking skills and techniques in the sheltered waters of Mousehole Harbour before setting out to explore the open coastline.
However, participants must be able to swim 50 metres unaided, as the tour involves open ocean kayaking, which can be affected by wind, currents, and waves. For safety reasons, children under 12 must kayak in a double kayak with an accompanying adult.
With over 20 years of experience, the team has built a reputation as one of Cornwall’s leading adventure sports providers, specialising in surf and kayaking tours. The instructors are highly trained, with a focus on delivering safe, enjoyable, and educational experiences for all participants. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced kayaker, you will benefit from expert guidance throughout the tour. The small group sizes (up to 6 people) ensure that you receive personalised attention, making your adventure more enjoyable and tailored to your abilities.
Additionally, the use of high-quality equipment such as sit-on-top kayaks, wetsuits, and safety gear means you’ll be comfortable and secure throughout the tour. As part of your experience, you’ll receive complimentary photos to remember your adventure, making this a truly memorable day out. With the flexibility of the location changing according to the weather, you can be confident that your experience will always be optimised for the best conditions.
No prior kayaking experience is required. The tour is suitable for all levels, including complete beginners. Your guide will start with a brief lesson on kayaking techniques in the sheltered waters of Mousehole Harbour before heading out along the coastline.
This ensures that you’re comfortable and confident with the basics, regardless of your experience.
The actual kayaking time is approximately 2 hours. However, the total session lasts around 2-3 hours, including time for equipment fitting, safety briefings, and post-session changing.
This flexibility allows the tour to adapt to group pace and conditions, ensuring a relaxed and enjoyable experience.
On arrival you will be equipped with a warm full length wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet. Your safety is our number 1 priority.
The tour will be run at your pace and match your confidence.
The minimum age for participating in a single kayak is 12 years old.
Children aged 6-12 years can join the tour but must share a double kayak with an adult. This ensures that younger children are accompanied by a responsible adult for safety.
You should bring swimwear to wear under your wetsuit and trainers or suitable footwear (such as wetsuit boots or beach shoes). You’ll also need a towel and a changing robe for before and after the session.
If you don’t have suitable footwear, the guide reserves the right to exclude you from the session for safety reasons. Shorts to wear over the wetsuit are also recommended to protect it from sharp rocks and barnacles.
Yes, you are welcome to bring your own wetsuit as long as it is a full-length suit and is warm enough for the conditions.
If you don’t have your own wetsuit, high-quality wetsuits will be provided for you as part of the tour.
If the weather conditions are not suitable for the tour in Mousehole, an alternative nearby location will be offered. The guides will ensure that your experience remains enjoyable, safe, and adapted to the best conditions available.
The team will monitor weather forecasts to ensure the safety and quality of the tour.
While you don’t need to be an expert swimmer, participants must be able to swim 50 metres unaided. This is important because kayaking involves open ocean waters where conditions like wind, currents, and waves can be present.
Buoyancy aids are provided for added safety, but a basic level of swimming ability is required.

Coasterring with Lizard adventure. Great day out. Rory was great with us. Got some sea snacks along the way. Great jumps for all levels. Saw the seals. All in all a great day out
I was impressed that Steve contacted me to ask if my adolescents would like a more adventurous experience and tailored the coasteering to them. They all had a great time - came back exhilarated and exhausted. Thanks also for taking some great photos
We had a fab time with Steve guiding us. A wide range of abilities and Steve enabled us all to meet our challenges and succeed. Highly recommend this as an amazing activity. Thumbs up for Steve. Thank you.
Five stars great fun and engaging and entertaining hosting!
It was great and our guide was very enthusiastic, personable and conscientious. Thankyou!
Absolutely fabulous. Chris(?) the instructor was very knowledgeable and helpful but also definitely a ‘people person’. It was my first ever time and I loved every second of it. Will definitely do again. But wanting to make this a frequent thing for me. Sad to think it may not be…
Adam was a very knowledgeable and seemingly very experienced guide on our sea kayaking adventure from Mullion Cove. We had a great time, paddling alongside seals and in and out of caves and coves.
