Our Open Canoe Expedition Training Week will be running in October. Designed for those eager to dive into the world of canoe expeditions, this course equips you with the skills to become fully self-sufficient in the wilderness. Through real-world learning at a basecamp setting, gain the confidence to plan and undertake your own canoe adventures.
Our course is broken down into 5 key modules across the 5 days:
The course is based in Dodgson Wood, nestled in the scenic Lake District, providing an ideal environment for comprehensive expedition training with direct access to some of the finest waters in England.
Participants will stay in a basecamp setup at Dodgson Wood. You'll need to bring your own camping gear, including a tent and sleeping equipment, to fully experience the expedition lifestyle.
No previous canoeing experience is required, but participants should be ready for physical activity and have a keen interest in outdoor adventure. The course is designed to cater to varying skill levels, ensuring a rich learning experience for everyone.
Led by seasoned adventurers Richard and Adam, our training week offers unparalleled insight into canoe expeditions, backed by decades of experience across diverse environments. With a focus on practical skills, safety, and fun, we ensure that participants leave ready to embark on their own canoeing adventures, with the option to gain British Canoeing Awarding Body Guide Modules.
Adam Robson and Richard Moses lead the course, both seasoned in the canoe expedition field with extensive British Canoeing qualifications. Their expertise includes advanced whitewater and open water coaching, backed by over 10,000 miles of expedition experience globally.
The training is held at Dodgson Wood in the Lake District, a secluded site ideal for immersive canoe training, with easy access to excellent waters.
Participants can use their own gear or borrow our canoes and paddling equipment. Personal camping gear, like tents and sleeping bags, needs to be brought by attendees.
All meals for the week are included. As a group, we'll collaboratively prepare and cook meals, integrating campcraft skills into the training experience.
