Improve your mountain biking technique with fully coached sessions suitable for groups of up to eight riders. Choose between a half-day or full-day session, focusing on essential mountain bike skills such as riding position, climbing, descending, and race tactics, all in a supportive and progressive environment.
Half-day sessions last around four hours, perfect for groups wanting to focus on the fundamentals and build confidence on trails and single track. The session begins with basic skills such as the cone of movement and ready position before moving on to climbing, descending, and wheel lifts. For those interested in racing, specific race craft techniques and tactics will also be covered. The pace is tailored to rider ability, ensuring steady progression in a friendly atmosphere.
Full-day sessions extend to six hours of riding and training, allowing more time to practice new skills and explore local MTB centres. Riders can expect a more immersive experience, with detailed coaching on riding position, cornering, off-camber sections, and starts, as well as practical application on varied terrain. The full day offers plenty of time to put skills into practice and consolidate learning with breaks scheduled to maintain energy levels.
Sessions take place within a 30-mile radius of London, with meeting points arranged individually after booking. Most commonly, sessions are organised around local MTB centres and woodland trail areas accessible from Brixton, SW London. These locations offer a variety of terrain and features ideal for skill development, including single track, slopes, and technical sections.
Riders benefit from being close to urban transport links while enjoying natural trails suitable for all levels. The flexibility of location within this radius means sessions can be tailored to suit the group’s preferences and travel arrangements, making it convenient for London-based riders and clubs.
Participants should be competent cyclists with the ability to ride for at least two hours, as sessions involve sustained periods of riding on varied terrain. Mountain bikes, cyclocross, or gravel bikes are recommended to make the most of the skills covered, particularly when tackling off-camber and technical sections.
It is essential to bring your own helmet, spare inner tube, and weather-appropriate clothing, including rainwear and sunscreen as needed. Riders should also carry snacks and water to stay hydrated and maintain energy throughout the session.
The coach has over 20 years of experience leading rides and coaching riders of all abilities, holding qualifications as a British Cycling coach and ride leader. Sessions are designed to be inclusive and progressive, allowing riders to improve at their own pace within a safe and supportive environment. The coach’s deep understanding of technical riding and race tactics ensures that groups receive expert guidance tailored to their needs, making the sessions suitable for beginners through to experienced mountain bikers looking to sharpen their skills.
