Wake early for a full day of Moalboal snorkelling, the sardine run and Kawasan Falls with hotel pickup from Cebu. Reef fish, swirling sardine shoals and turquoise pools are linked in one coastal and inland itinerary with boat trips and snorkelling gear included.
Before sunrise your driver collects you from Cebu City, Mactan or Mandaue for the westbound drive to Moalboal, arriving around 08:00 for morning island hopping. A local boat takes you to Pescador Island for snorkelling over colourful corals and reef fish, then you swim through the famous sardine run where dense shoals swirl close to the surface. Equipment and safety briefings are provided at each water entry.
Afternoon transfers bring you to neighbouring Badian for a short forest trek to Kawasan Falls. Swim in the turquoise pools at the first level and optionally continue to the second tier with your guide before the return drive to your hotel in Cebu City or Mactan in the evening.
Moalboal on Cebu's west coast sits on the Tañon Strait with rich reef life and the famous near-shore sardine shoals. Pescador Island lies a short boat ride offshore with clear water and dramatic drop-offs.
Kawasan Falls in neighbouring Badian offers a contrasting inland waterfall experience through lush forest. The day links open-ocean snorkelling with a jungle cascade in one long but varied route across south-west Cebu.
Basic swimming confidence for snorkelling is enough, and life jackets are available for extra buoyancy in the water. Comfortable walking on forest paths at Kawasan helps, though no diving certification is required.
Parents often bring children on this tour. Young children should be closely supervised during boat sessions and on wet rocks at the falls, and your guide can adjust pacing for less confident swimmers in the group.
Reef snorkelling, sardine shoals and Kawasan Falls are organised in one day with boat trips, snorkelling gear and hotel transfers included, so you can focus on the water and the forest rather than logistics.
Boat positioning at Moalboal and forest routes at Kawasan are chosen to suit your group, helping you make the most of both the morning on the water and the afternoon beside the cascades.
Pickup is around 05:00 from Cebu City, Mactan or Mandaue hotels so you reach Moalboal in time for the morning snorkelling window on the Tañon Strait. Your driver confirms the exact collection time once we have your hotel details and know your accommodation, and guests on Mactan are often collected slightly earlier to account for the bridge crossing and westbound traffic.
Arrival at Moalboal is typically around 08:00 for island hopping, with the afternoon reserved for the drive to Badian and your visit to Kawasan Falls before the return journey to Cebu in the evening.
Round-trip hotel pickup, road transport to Moalboal and Badian, and local boat trips for island hopping are all included in your tour for this full-day itinerary. Snorkelling equipment for the Pescador Island and sardine run sessions is also provided.
Your guide and driver stay with the group from the early morning collection through the boat sessions, the waterfall trek and the evening drop-off back at your hotel.
A local motorboat takes you from Moalboal on a roughly 30-minute ride to Pescador Island, where you snorkel over colourful corals and reef fish in clear water above the drop-off. Your guide briefs you on boat safety, entry points and how to move with the current before you enter the water.
Basic swimming confidence helps, though life jackets are available for guests who want extra buoyancy while floating above the reef. The session is suitable for beginners who are comfortable putting their face in the water with a mask.
The sardine run is a dense shoal of sardines that gathers close to the reef near Moalboal, swirling in coordinated patterns just below the surface. You snorkel among the moving fish as they shift shape in the water, which is one of the area's signature underwater sights.
Your guide positions the boat for the best viewing angle and stays with the group in the water. A waterproof camera or phone pouch helps capture the experience without risking your device in the salt water.
After the Moalboal boat sessions you drive to neighbouring Badian for a short forest trek to the first level of Kawasan Falls. Swim in the turquoise pools at the base of the cascade and, if time and energy allow, continue with your guide to the second tier for a steeper hike and wider views over the gorge.
Your guide sets how long you spend at each level before the return drive to Cebu City or Mactan, depending on traffic and how long the morning snorkelling sessions run.
Snorkelling masks, fins and life jackets are included for the boat sessions at Moalboal, along with the local motorboat transfers between shore and the snorkelling sites. Bring your own swimsuit, towel and reef-safe sunscreen for the full day in and out of the water.
Sturdy sandals or trainers are useful for the forest walk at Kawasan Falls, where the riverside path can be uneven and wet near the cascades. A waterproof camera or phone pouch is ideal for the sardine run and reef sections.
Meals are not included in your tour, so bring snacks and cash for food near Moalboal or Badian during the long day. There are local eateries at both the coastal snorkelling base and the waterfall area where many guests buy lunch between activities.
A light breakfast before the early pickup and packed snacks for the road help bridge the gap between morning boat sessions and your afternoon at Kawasan Falls, especially on busy weekends when restaurants can be crowded.
There is no minimum age on this tour and families with children often join Moalboal snorkelling trips together. Supervise children closely in the water during boat sessions and on forest paths at Kawasan, where rocks beside the pools can be slippery after rain.
Life jackets are available for less confident swimmers at both the reef and the falls. Let your guide know if anyone in your group needs a slower pace or extra support so the day can be adjusted on the spot.
Sea conditions at Moalboal and rainfall inland at Kawasan can affect the schedule on the same day, as coastal swell and mountain weather do not always align. Your guide may adjust the order of stops, shorten water sessions or modify pacing if either snorkelling or the falls visit becomes challenging.
Light rain may still allow both activities with extra care on wet forest paths. Your guide will explain any changes on the day and help your group make the most of each stop regardless of conditions.
Groups are kept to one to five guests on this Moalboal and Kawasan combo. Your guide stays with the group for boat trips, snorkelling sessions, the waterfall trek and the return journey, which keeps pacing consistent across a long and varied day.
Larger parties may need to split across separate departures. The small group size helps your guide manage both open-water snorkelling and the forest walk at the falls without splitting attention across too many guests.
