You return kit at the shop before hotel drop-off around 4:30pm, a full valley-to-city day on quiet country roads with the old town as your finish line.
Mae Ngat Valley lies 45 minutes north of Chiang Mai where irrigated rice fields and orchard country fill a wide agricultural plain. Riding south gives you changing perspectives of the valley with the city as your finish line. Mae Ngat Dam, university farmland near Mae Jo and the Ping river corridor link rural northern Thailand to Chiang Mai's suburbs in a single continuous ride.
Market mornings and temple views punctuate the first half before the river guides you home. It is one of the best cross country days for riders who want rural Thailand without mountain climbs, distance and scenery without the elevation.
Good fitness and touring experience are recommended for the 60 km distance. Terrain is mostly level but heat and distance need sensible pacing and hydration.
Wear firm shoes, sunscreen and comfortable kit for a full valley day. Bring personal snacks and plenty of water, lunch is included but you'll be on the bike for most of the day. Hybrid or touring bikes suit the flat farm roads best.
We support road cyclists on the Samoeng loop and valley tours with vehicle backup, local route knowledge and quality bikes from our Chiang Mai base. Our guides know where the climbs bite, where the views open up and how to pace a full day in northern Thailand's heat.
We'll handle pickup, bike fitting and support on the road. Whether you're tackling the full loop or a shorter variant, you'll ride with a team that knows these tarmac roads as well as any local club.
Hotel pickup around 8:30am brings you to the shop for sign-up and hybrid bike fitting. A drive north reaches Wat Ban Den on the west side of Mae Ngat Valley where the southbound ride begins around 10:00am.
Pedal through farmland and past Mae Ngat Dam with views of the blue mountain range to the east. Village markets and rice fields provide cultural stops and photo breaks on the mostly flat valley roads.
Lunch near Mae Jo village gives you a rest before the final leg toward Chiang Mai. The pace stays steady with water stops through the warmer afternoon sections.
Follow the Ping river into Chiang Mai proper to complete the 60 km ride. Hotel drop-off follows after you return kit at the shop in the late afternoon.
You are dropped in Mae Ngat Valley north of Chiang Mai and ride roughly 60 km south through farmland, markets and villages back into the city. The route is mostly flat but needs good stamina for a full day in the saddle. Hybrid mountain bikes suit the mix of valley roads and farm tracks along the Mae Ping basin.
Pace yourself on climbs and drink water regularly throughout the day. Guides adjust rest stops to match the group so everyone can enjoy the scenery without rushing.

Riders from 16 years can join this cross country day. The distance and heat demand good fitness and road awareness on shared rural lanes. Be sure your child is comfortable with the duration and terrain.
Correctly sized equipment is provided on the day where applicable. Teenagers with touring or sportive experience typically handle the pace well with guide support.
A hybrid mountain bike and helmet are supplied. Wear firm shoes, sunscreen and comfortable cycling clothes for a mostly flat but long day. Seat height and brakes are checked before you set off.

Rice fields, orchards and village markets line the route for constant photo opportunities.
The trip runs year round rain or shine. Heat and sun are the main challenges in dry season; pack plenty of water and sun protection. Light rain often adds atmosphere without stopping the trip.
Pack a light rain layer and a dry bag for electronics if showers are forecast. Light rain rarely stops the ride and can make the valley especially green and atmospheric.
Groups run from solo riders upward with daily departures. Minimum trip is one person so you can join without a private group.
Fit leisure and touring cyclists often choose this ride for an authentic valley experience.
Yes. Pickup and drop-off from hotels and guesthouses in Chiang Mai city centre are included. You transfer to the shop for sign-up before the drive north to Mae Ngat Valley.
Share your accommodation details ahead of the trip so the driver can find you easily. Allow a few minutes either side of the stated pickup window. Northern Thailand heat and humidity can be tiring, so hydrate often and use sun protection even on cloudy days.
Improver fitness and prior road or hybrid cycling experience are recommended. The riding is not technical but the 60 km distance needs pacing and hydration through a warm valley day. Pace yourself on climbs and drink water regularly throughout the day.
Guides adjust rest stops to match the group so everyone can enjoy the scenery without rushing. Guides set a steady touring pace with stops at markets and viewpoints.
