This 7.5-mile route, guided by an experienced leader, combines both nature and heritage, offering panoramic views, ancient paths, and the peaceful surroundings of South Wales' largest freshwater lake. The walk begins at the shore of Llangorse Lake, where your guide will provide an introduction to the area’s history and natural features. From there, you’ll ascend an old Roman road that gently climbs through forestry, offering peaceful woodland surroundings. As you make your way to the top, you will reach the ancient Iron Age hill fort at 393 metres, where you’ll be rewarded with beautiful views of the Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains, and Usk Valley. Take in the full 360° vista, including the iconic Pen y Fan mountain, before continuing the route.
The descent takes you through woodland and fields, providing excellent opportunities for wildlife spotting, including birds and other local fauna. As you walk along the lakeside, you’ll pass vibrant wildflower meadows (in summer), a dragonfly conservation area, and a charming thatched bird-hide. The walk concludes with a visit to Llangorse Church, a peaceful lakeside site with a rich history and gorgeous surrounding views. Throughout the route, your guide will offer interesting insights into the area's history and wildlife, ensuring a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.

Children from the age of 8 are welcome, but the walk may be challenging for those with limited mobility. Solo female walkers are encouraged as your guide is female & used to guiding solo visitors. Assistance will be given over any stiles and/or difficult terrain.

The price is designed for groups of 1-8 participants.
Additional individuals can be added, up to a maximum of 14 people. This allows for flexible group arrangements while maintaining the quality of the session.

The walk lasts approximately 4–5 hours, which includes time for breaks to enjoy the views and spot local wildlife.
