What to Expect
During this course, you’ll be introduced to the core principles of lead climbing indoors. We’ll review your current skills, including your belaying technique and rope management, to ensure a solid foundation. You’ll also learn how to assess and communicate with your climbing partner while preparing for a lead climb.
There will be a focus on clipping techniques and strategies for safely leading a route. You’ll practise how to handle the rope, clip correctly at different heights, and anticipate the demands of lead climbing. You’ll also gain confidence in catching a fall, a key aspect of climbing safety.
Towards the end you’ll have the opportunity to put your learning into practice by leading a route under supervision. We’ll continue refining your technique, with an emphasis on improving efficiency and climbing smarter. by the end you will leave you feeling confident and ready to tackle more advanced indoor routes on your own.

This course takes place at a climbing wall located near Keswick in the gorgeous Lake District.
Easily accessible for those living in or visiting the area, it’s the perfect base to develop your skills indoors before heading out to the many outdoor opportunities the region has to offer.
Prerequisites
Participants must have a solid understanding of climbing basics, including how to tie climbing knots and operate a belay device.
