A fun and carefully supervised introduction to scuba diving designed especially for children aged 8 to 10. This pool-only experience focuses on confidence, safety, and basic underwater skills in a controlled environment.
The session begins with a short, age-appropriate theory briefing where children learn how scuba equipment works and how to breathe safely underwater. The focus is on making the experience understandable and enjoyable, without overwhelming technical detail.
After the briefing, participants move to the swimming pool for a supervised scuba session in shallow water. Under direct instructor guidance, children practise breathing underwater, clearing their masks, and moving gently through the water using fins. Instructors remain close at all times to ensure safety and confidence.
The entire experience takes place in the pool environment, allowing young divers to explore scuba diving in a calm and controlled setting. The aim is to build familiarity with the equipment and create a positive first experience underwater.
The activity takes place in Funchal at a dedicated training facility with classroom and pool access. The structured environment allows instructors to manage group size and maintain a high level of supervision throughout the session.
Being pool-based, the experience is not affected by sea conditions, making it a consistent and reliable option for families with younger children.
Participants must be between 8 and 10 years old and able to swim independently. A medical questionnaire will be sent automatically after booking and must be completed before the activity.
This experience is not recommended for children with heart, respiratory, or certain psychological conditions. As with all scuba activities, flying is not permitted within 12 hours after participation.
The programme is designed specifically for younger divers, with equipment sized appropriately and instruction adapted to children’s learning styles. Small groups ensure close supervision and individual attention.
By keeping the experience pool-based, children can focus fully on learning and enjoyment without the added variables of open water conditions. The result is a safe, structured introduction to scuba diving.
