This course is perfect for those looking to enhance their skills on flow trails with jumps and berms. Led by experienced coach Michael, who has been teaching since 2012 and racing across various disciplines, this session will help you master the techniques needed to ride manmade trails confidently and efficiently.
The session begins with a brief introduction and safety briefing by Michael, your coach. You'll start with revising the fundamentals of pumping/absorbing & squashing/floating tabletops. Which is essential for for building confidence in maintaining speed and landing a jump.
Jumping technique. You'll progress onto learning to jump, by using precision and body movement to clear small 2-3 bike length tabletops.
Flow through berms. You will learn how to build on the fundamentals of cornering technique, by applying the pumping technique to help you link berms together and carry speed.
Michael will provide personalised feedback and guidance to help you refine your technique. The final part of the session is dedicated to mastering berms. You'll develop cornering skills that enable you to carry more speed through berms, enhancing your overall trail flow. Throughout the session, Michael's rider-centred coaching approach ensures that you receive tailored advice and support, making the experience effective and enjoyable.
The coaching session takes place at Greno Woods MTB trails and Wharncliffe Woods. You'll meet at the Grenoside Woods car park, S35 8RS. These locations offer a variety of trails perfect for practising and improving your flow trail skills.
With extensive experience and a rider-centred approach, Michael ensures each participant receives personalised coaching tailored to their needs. His background in racing and coaching across multiple disciplines allows him to provide comprehensive guidance and support. Our courses are designed to help you achieve your biking ambitions, improve your fitness, and develop your technical skills in a supportive environment.
Bring a mountain bike in full working order. Ensure it is suitable for riding flow trails and has flat pedals/shoes.
You must wear a helmet and gloves. Knee pads are recommended, along with any other protective clothing or equipment you normally use for mountain biking.
Yes, the course is suitable for adults and children over 11 years old. Parents or guardians of children under 16 must stay within 30 minutes of the session.
Bring a mountain bike in full working order, helmet and gloves, flat pedals/shoes, suitable warm clothing, and a completed rider information and the consent form that we will send you before the session.
The meeting point is at the Grenoside Woods car park, S35 8RS.
