Monday – Day 5
After your final breakfast, you'll set off on a guided hike to the top of An Sgùrr, Eigg’s iconic pitchstone ridge or visit the Loch's beneath it for a wild swim. Lunch is back at the Galmisdale Café & Tearoom before saying your goodbyes and catching the afternoon ferry.
Based on the Isle of Eigg, this expedition gives you access to one of Scotland’s most characterful islands, surrounded by dramatic cliffs, basalt ridges and kelp-lined bays. The island’s off-grid community and quiet pace of life make it the perfect base for water sports and relaxed exploration. You'll stay in twin-share pods close to the shoreline and within walking distance of the pier, shower/toilet facilities, bar and tearoom.
Rib trips and short ferry crossings will take you to Muck, Rum and Canna throughout the expedition. Each island offers unique snorkelling sites, rich marine life, and walking opportunities. Wildlife sightings are common during travel between islands—look out for seals, whales, dolphins and seabirds, and with luck, you might spot a basking shark or porpoise en route.
You’ll stay in well-insulated twin-share pods just a short walk from the water. Each pod includes a fridge, kettle, and optional bedding pack, with enough space to store your gear and dry off after a day in the sea. They’re warm, simple and ideal for resting up between activities.
Shower and toilet facilities are located in a nearby building, along with drying rooms and washing machines. Hot showers are available at £3 for 5 minutes, and there’s plenty of communal space to relax and prepare for the next day's adventures.
No previous snorkelling or paddleboarding experience is required. All water sessions are guided and tailored to the conditions, with instruction and safety support provided throughout.
A good base level of fitness is recommended, as most days involve multiple activities including snorkelling, walking and paddleboarding. You’ll need to be comfortable sharing a twin pod with another guest, please get in touch if your require any more information on this as a bell tent is also available.
This trip is run by a team of qualified BSAC snorkel guides, RYA skippers, BCA paddleboard instructors and bushcraft leaders, with a strong understanding of the local waters, wildlife and island conditions. Every element is designed to support beginners while offering depth for more experienced participants.
With a maximum group size of six, the experience stays personal, flexible and supportive. You’ll get to know your guides and fellow guests while enjoying meals together, campfire evenings, and time outdoors. From the comfort of your pod to the salty swims and the chance to explore island life from a local perspective, this expedition offers a balance of adventure, nature and proper down-time.
