Looking to develop genuine kitesurfing skills and build confidence on the water? This intensive beginner course provides a comprehensive introduction to the sport, taking you from essential kite control through to riding downwind and developing the skills needed to become an independent rider. Spread over four to five days, it offers plenty of time to practise, progress and gain valuable experience.
Training begins with a detailed introduction to kitesurfing equipment, safety systems and weather awareness. You'll learn how to prepare your equipment correctly, understand wind conditions and develop reliable kite control skills both on land and in shallow water. Building confidence with the kite is a key part of the course and creates the foundation for everything that follows.
As the course progresses, you'll move on to practical board work and water starts, combining kite control with board handling skills. Sessions take place in the beginner-friendly waters of Pollensa Bay, where shallow areas and generally moderate winds provide excellent conditions for learning. With your own equipment throughout the course, you'll benefit from consistent practice and personalised coaching from your instructor.
The later stages of the programme focus on developing greater independence. You'll learn how to ride downwind, improve control while moving across the water and practise important self-rescue techniques that every kitesurfer should know. Across the ten hours of tuition, most students make significant progress and leave feeling confident controlling both the kite and board. Successful completion also includes a VDWS licence to recognise your training level.
Pollensa Bay is one of Mallorca's most recognised kitesurfing destinations and provides ideal conditions for beginner and intermediate progression. Shallow water, sandy seabeds and steady winds help students focus on learning while remaining comfortable throughout their sessions.
The teaching area is supported by excellent facilities, including hot showers, changing rooms, exclusive student spaces, a swimming pool and a sea-facing bar and restaurant. The surrounding coastline also offers beaches, cafés and local amenities, making it a pleasant place to spend several days learning on the water.
This course is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who may have already completed a shorter introductory lesson and want to progress further. No previous kitesurfing experience is required.
Participants should bring sunglasses, sunscreen, a towel and drinks for the day. A positive attitude and willingness to learn are far more important than physical strength, as kitesurfing relies heavily on technique and understanding.
Learning takes place within an authorised private teaching area designed specifically for watersports instruction. The extended duration of this course allows instructors to focus on long-term progression rather than rushing through skills, helping students gain genuine confidence on the water.
Qualified instructors hold recognised certifications across multiple watersports disciplines and teach in several languages. Combined with premium waterfront facilities, individual equipment and structured coaching, students benefit from a professional and supportive learning environment throughout their training.
Yes. The course has been designed to take complete beginners through the essential stages of learning kitesurfing in a structured and progressive way.
The additional lesson hours provide more time to practise skills and build confidence compared to shorter introductory programmes.
Progress varies between individuals, but most students finish with a strong understanding of kite control, water starts, riding downwind and self-rescue procedures.
The goal is to help you become a more confident and independent rider capable of continuing your development after the course.
The VDWS licence is an internationally recognised certification that records your kitesurfing training and ability level.
Many kitesurfing centres around the world recognise this certification, making it useful when continuing lessons or hiring equipment elsewhere.
Yes. Individual equipment is provided throughout the course, allowing you to maximise your practical learning time.
Using the same equipment during your training helps create consistency and can make progression smoother and more effective.
The bay offers shallow water, sandy bottoms and generally moderate wind conditions that suit beginner progression.
These conditions allow students to focus on technique development while learning in a comfortable and supportive environment.
No. Kitesurfing is largely based on technique, balance and understanding how to use the wind efficiently.
People of many different fitness levels successfully learn the sport when following proper instruction and progression methods.
Sunglasses are highly recommended due to the glare created by the sun reflecting off the water.
You should also bring sunscreen, a towel, drinking water and any snacks you may wish to have during breaks between sessions.
Safety and learning quality always come first when planning lessons and course schedules.
If wind or weather conditions are not suitable, sessions can be rearranged to another available time whenever possible.
