All centres are vetted for safety and quality. Your adventure is in good hands with adventuro.
Getting onto a climbing wall for the first time is one of the quickest ways to test whether the sport is for you, without committing to a full day out. These per hour sessions suit individuals or small groups curious about bouldering or sport climbing indoors, and the format can flex to whatever you want to focus on.
Your instructor talks you through the basics of indoor climbing before moving into practical time on the wall, focused on bouldering or sport climbing depending on what you fancy. Expect plenty of encouragement and clear explanations rather than being left to work it out alone.
Each session is shaped around your ability, so whether you are completely new or have climbed a handful of times before, the pace stays comfortable while still pushing you to try new moves.
Sessions take place at climbing centres across the South West, with the specific venue chosen to suit your location or that of your group. Most venues offer a mix of bouldering walls and roped sport climbing, giving plenty of variety within a single visit.
Indoor centres provide a warm, controlled environment regardless of the weather outside, which makes this a reliable option for evenings, weekends or whenever outdoor conditions are not appealing.
This taster session is open to all abilities and no prior climbing experience is needed. Equipment can be provided if you do not have your own, so there is nothing stopping you from turning up and giving it a try.
Instruction comes from a qualified Rock Climbing Instructor working towards Mountain Leader and Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor qualifications, with genuine enthusiasm for helping newcomers enjoy their first time on a wall. Every session is backed by years of hands on climbing experience and ongoing training.
Whether you are testing the water before committing to a longer course or just fancy a fun hour out, you are in capable hands throughout.
Sessions are held in various locations across the South West. The exact meeting point is chosen based on your location and preference, ensuring convenience and access to exactly what we need.
Most venues have a good mix of bouldering and roped climbing, so there is plenty to try during your visit.
No prior climbing experience is necessary to take part. These taster sessions are designed for beginners or those wanting a refresher, and your instructor will tailor the session to suit your ability.
Whether you have never climbed before or are looking to learn the basics, you will feel supported and confident as you progress.
Wear comfortable, flexible clothing that allows you to move easily. Gym wear, leggings or lightweight trousers are ideal. Climbing shoes can be provided, but if you prefer to bring your own, that is fine too.
Avoid jeans or any clothing that restricts movement, and bring socks if borrowing shoes.
All essential climbing equipment, such as harnesses, ropes and climbing shoes if needed, will be provided for the session.
If you have your own climbing gear, you are welcome to bring it along, though your instructor will check it over before you start.
The session is booked per hour, making it ideal for those who want a quick introduction or have limited time. Options of 1, 2 or 3 hours are available depending on how much time you want on the wall.
You can extend the booking if you decide you would like to climb for longer, so just let us know in advance so this can be arranged.
Younger climbers are welcome to take part, though the session works best for anyone old enough to follow safety instructions and wear a harness comfortably.
If you are booking for a child, mention their age when arranging your session so the instructor can plan accordingly.
Yes, the session accommodates groups of up to 4 people, making it a fun option for friends, couples or small families to try climbing together.
Group sessions still allow each person to get plenty of individual attention and encouragement.
Bouldering involves climbing shorter routes without ropes, with matting below to cushion any falls, while sport climbing uses ropes and is typically on taller walls.
Your session can focus on either discipline or include a mix of both, depending on what you would like to try.
No specific fitness level is required, though climbing does use muscles you may not use day to day, so expect to feel it afterwards, especially your forearms and grip.
The pace is set around you, so there is no pressure to push further than feels comfortable during your first visit.
After booking, you will be contacted to arrange a date, time and venue that suits your availability. This flexible approach means the session fits around your diary rather than a fixed timetable.
It also gives you a chance to ask any questions about what to expect before the day itself.
