Take on one of the most exciting river activities in Andalusia with a hydrospeed adventure on the Genil River. Using a specialist float and fins, you'll navigate white-water rapids from within the river itself, offering a completely different perspective from rafting or kayaking.
Your experience begins with a safety briefing and introduction to the hydrospeed equipment. Guides will explain river techniques, positioning, steering, and how to move safely through the rapids before heading to the river.
Once equipped with your hydrospeed board, wetsuit, helmet, buoyancy aid, and fins, you'll enter the Genil River and begin navigating the current. Unlike rafting, where you work as part of a team in a raft, hydrospeed places you directly in the water, allowing you to feel the speed and power of the river as you travel through the rapids.
The route follows one of the most exciting sections of the Genil River, featuring Grade III rapids and fast-flowing water. Throughout the descent, guides remain close by, helping you improve your technique and ensuring everyone progresses safely through the course.
After leaving the river, you'll return to the activity base where hot showers and relaxation areas are available. You'll also receive photos and videos of your experience to remember the adventure.
This activity takes place on the Genil River near Benamejí, within the beautiful surroundings of the Sierras Subbéticas area of Córdoba Province. The river is widely regarded as one of the best destinations for white-water activities in Andalusia thanks to its combination of reliable flows and exciting rapids.
The surrounding area offers a mixture of rolling countryside, river valleys, and protected natural landscapes. Its central location makes it easily accessible from Córdoba, Málaga, Granada, Jaén, and Seville, making it a popular destination for adventure seekers across southern Spain.
Hydrospeed is recommended for participants who are confident in the water and have a reasonable level of fitness. Previous rafting or white-water kayaking experience is beneficial, although it is not essential.
Participants must be able to swim confidently and should be comfortable in moving water. For safety reasons, the activity is not suitable for anyone with recent serious injuries, those under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or anyone who is pregnant.
With more than 15 years of experience delivering adventure activities across Andalusia, the team combines extensive technical knowledge with a genuine passion for outdoor sports. Small group sizes allow guides to provide greater support throughout the activity while maintaining high safety standards.
The focus is always on creating memorable experiences while respecting the natural environment. Professional equipment, qualified guides, and carefully selected river sections ensure participants can enjoy the excitement of hydrospeed with confidence.
Hydrospeed is a white-water river activity where participants travel downstream using a specially designed float while swimming through the current with fins. Unlike rafting or kayaking, you are positioned directly in the water, giving you a much closer connection to the river and its rapids.
The activity combines elements of swimming, river navigation, and adventure sports. It is often considered the next step for people who have already tried rafting and are looking for a more immersive experience.
Previous rafting or white-water kayaking experience is recommended because it helps participants feel more comfortable in moving water. However, experienced guides provide instruction and support throughout the activity.
Before entering the river, you'll receive a detailed briefing covering safety procedures, river techniques, and equipment use. This ensures participants understand how to navigate the rapids safely and confidently.
Hydrospeed is considered a medium to high difficulty activity due to the physical effort required and the fact that participants travel directly within the river current. The Genil River section includes Grade III rapids, providing an exciting challenge.
Although the activity is accessible to active beginners, participants should have a reasonable level of fitness and be prepared for a more demanding experience than rafting.
Yes, confident swimming ability is essential for hydrospeed. Participants spend the activity in the water and need to feel comfortable moving through flowing river conditions.
The safety equipment provides buoyancy and support, but being able to swim confidently remains an important requirement for participation.
The overall activity lasts around four hours, including equipment fitting, safety briefings, transportation within the activity area, and preparation time.
Participants spend approximately one hour and forty-five minutes in the water navigating the rapids and completing the hydrospeed descent.
Safety is a priority throughout the experience. Participants are provided with specialist equipment designed for white-water environments, including helmets, buoyancy aids, wetsuits, fins, and hydrospeed boards.
Guides accompany the group throughout the route and carefully manage progress through the rapids. Small group sizes also allow instructors to provide closer supervision and assistance where required.
A swimsuit should be worn underneath the provided equipment. Bringing a towel and suitable water shoes or secure footwear is also recommended for comfort during the activity.
Closed shoes that fit securely are preferred as they reduce the chance of footwear being lost while moving through the rapids and entering or exiting the river.
