Walking in the North of Skye gives you a chance to slow things down and really take in the landscape at ground level. This guided hill walking experience takes you across a mix of well-known routes and quieter paths, depending on what you’re after. You’ll be out with Cam or Izzy, exploring at a steady pace with plenty of time to look around and learn as you go.
After meeting on location, you’ll set off with your guide, who will tailor the route based on conditions, ability, and what you’d like to get out of the day. Some walks may follow more well-known paths across the Trotternish area, while others may head into quieter ground where things feel more remote. The pace is steady, with regular stops to take in views and talk through points of interest.
Along the way, you might focus on navigation skills, reading the terrain, or simply enjoying the walk itself. There’s also the option to learn more about local plants, wildlife, and the landscape you’re moving through. Full day sessions allow for longer routes and more time to explore, while half days keep things more relaxed and accessible.
Sessions are based around North Skye, with access to a wide range of walking routes across the Trotternish peninsula. This area offers a mix of coastal paths, rolling hills, and more rugged terrain depending on conditions and preference.
The exact meeting point will be confirmed a day or two before your session, usually somewhere within the Trotternish area. Skye roads can become busy during peak times, so it’s worth allowing extra time for travel so you can arrive without rushing.
No previous hill walking experience is needed, but a reasonable level of fitness is helpful. You should be comfortable walking for extended periods over uneven ground.
You’ll need suitable clothing for changeable weather, as conditions can shift quickly on Skye. Good footwear, warm layers, and waterproofs are essential to keep you comfortable throughout the day.
With decades of outdoor experience, the team continues a long-standing connection to Scotland's landscapes, now focusing on small-group and personal outdoor experiences. The approach is relaxed, with an emphasis on learning while enjoying the time outside.
Cam and Izzy bring experience from across Scotland and beyond, including time spent guiding in varied terrain and conditions. Their style is supportive and easy going, helping you build confidence whether you’re working on navigation skills or just enjoying a day on the hills.
