Combine two perspectives on Icelandic nature in one half-day adventure: a morning ATV ride through the Reykjavik outback and an afternoon helicopter flight with a summit landing. Ride to Hafravatn lake and Hafrafell mountain before taking to the skies for aerial views of the capital and a photo stop on a nearby peak.
This combo pairs a morning quad safari through trails just 15 minutes from the city centre with an afternoon helicopter flight and summit landing, giving you ground-level adventure and aerial sightseeing in a single half-day. Hotel pickup starts the ATV portion; after the ride you transfer to the domestic airport for the noon helicopter departure.
The two activities complement each other: Hafrafell and Hafravatn from the trail, then the capital and surrounding summits from the air. Allow the full three and a half hours including transfer time between the ATV drop-off at Hotel Natura and the helicopter hangar next door.
The ATV trails run through the peaceful outback northeast of Reykjavik, where Hafravatn lake sits in a sheltered valley and Hafrafell mountain offers wide views across the capital and the surrounding volcanic range. This is terrain that feels remote despite its proximity to the city, with mossy lava and open hillsides defining the landscape.
The helicopter portion covers the same region from above, extending the perspective to Faxafloi bay, the city skyline and the table-top summits that ring Reykjavik. Together the two activities show how tightly urban life and wild volcanic country coexist in southwest Iceland.
No prior ATV or flying experience is required. Full instructions and safety gear are provided for the quad ride, and passengers should be able to board the helicopter with minimal assistance for the afternoon flight.
Both activities depend on weather conditions and portions may be rescheduled if unsuitable on the day. Contact the team before booking if travelling with young children to confirm age and size requirements for the ATV equipment.
This combo delivers ground-level adventure and aerial sightseeing in a single morning and afternoon, ideal for families and anyone wanting a varied introduction to Iceland's landscapes near the capital without committing to a full-day expedition.
Seamless transfer between the ATV drop-off at Hotel Natura and the helicopter hangar beside the domestic airport keeps the day flowing smoothly, with two distinct experiences that share the same dramatic volcanic backdrop.
The full combo experience lasts around three and a half hours including the ATV ride, transfer to the airport and the helicopter flight with summit landing.
The ATV portion covers trails to Hafravatn lake and Hafrafell mountain, followed by a helicopter flight of 15 to 20 minutes with 20 minutes on a summit for photographs.
The ATV portion begins with hotel pickup in Reykjavik. After the quad ride you are dropped at Hotel Natura next to Reykjavik Domestic Airport for the helicopter departure at noon.
The helicopter base is at Nauthólsvegur 58d, building 313, hangar 1, on the east side of the airport. Full meeting details are on your booking confirmation.
The morning ATV ride heads to Hafravatn lake and up Hafrafell mountain for panoramic views of Reykjavik and the surrounding range. The afternoon helicopter flight overflies the city and lands on a nearby summit.
Both portions offer complementary perspectives on the capital and its volcanic hinterland, combining ground-level adventure with aerial sightseeing.
Helicopter flights depend on weather and aviation conditions. If conditions are unsafe, the pilot may adjust the route, omit landings or postpone the flight.
The ATV ride may also be affected by weather. The team will communicate any changes and alternative arrangements on the day.
For the ATV ride wear shoes suitable for the outdoors, warm clothing under the provided overall, and bring a camera and something to drink. For the helicopter portion add a warm jacket, hat and gloves for the summit landing.
All ATV safety gear and instructions are provided before the ride. No prior quad biking experience is required as the bikes are easy to operate.
Children and teenagers can participate in both portions subject to age and size requirements for the ATV equipment. Contact the operator before booking to confirm suitability for younger riders.
The helicopter flight welcomes children with infants sitting on a parent lap where required by aviation rules.
Hotel pickup for the ATV portion is included at the start of the day. Drop-off after the helicopter flight at the airport is not a return hotel transfer.
Transport from the airport back to your hotel after the helicopter flight is not included and should be arranged separately via taxi or transfer.
The combo can operate with a single participant when booked, subject to availability on your chosen date. ATV and helicopter portions may have separate capacity limits.
Your confirmation email will confirm the exact configuration and any age or weight restrictions for the quad bikes.
The ATV ride is operated by a partner quad safari company. You receive full instructions and safety gear before setting off on trails near Reykjavik.
After the ride you have a short break at Hotel Natura before the scheduled noon helicopter departure from the adjacent airport base.
No prior ATV experience is required. Full instructions and safety gear are provided before the ride, and the bikes are easy to operate on the trails.
Your guide leads the group at a pace suited to the conditions and experience level of the party.
