Your day begins with pickup in Marsa Alam, then moves into a reef snorkel boat day. Hamata and Qulaan sit south of Marsa Alam and are known for clear water, healthy coral gardens and unhurried reef time. The full day shape works well for couples and families who want something more than a beach afternoon. Hotel collection and return in the Marsa Alam area are included, so you are not sorting taxis or meeting points on the morning of the trip. A meal is built into the longer format, which gives you a proper break between the active sections.
Once you step aboard at the marina, you stow your bag and hear the briefing ahead of the first swim stop. A guide leads the snorkel sessions and stays in the water while you float over coral and reef fish. Life jackets are there if you want extra flotation, and the pace suits mixed groups of beginners and confident swimmers. Briefing covers snorkel technique at the surface, spacing in the water and how each swim stop will run before you leave the harbour.
Each return to the boat is a chance to dry off and rest in the shade before the next site. A meal on board or at a desert stop splits the active time and gives you shade between legs. Reef sites can shift with wind and swell on the day, and the captain will choose calmer water rather than forcing a fixed route when the sea is rough. Lunch on board gives you shade and time to eat between reef legs without heading back to the hotel.
The Marsa Alam coast is Egypt's southern Red Sea strip, with hotels spaced along bays rather than one dense frontage. Named reefs lie offshore, so the boat run is part of the day rather than a walk from your room.
Hotel pickup covers the main Marsa Alam resort belt, though traffic along the coastal road can stretch collection windows on busy mornings. Be ready a few minutes early at reception, eat breakfast before an early departure, and give your hotel name when you book so the driver finds the right gate.
First-timers can join with a normal fitness level. You should be comfortable following a guide and happy with the physical side of the activity.
Practical kit means sun cream, sensible clothes and closed shoes on rough ground. Say any medical conditions or dietary needs when you confirm your place.
Included transfers mean you are not hunting taxis or marina timings on activity morning. Local crews know the routes, reefs and marks they use week in, week out through the season.
Lunch on board or at a stop breaks up the hours on the water and keeps the group together. Say dietary needs when you book so the kitchen or crew can try to match them.
We'll collect you from your Marsa Alam hotel and take you to the marina. Be ready with swimwear, sun protection and any voucher details. The crew talk through safety, timing and how the day will run before you board.
The boat heads south toward Hamata and Qulaan Islands through clear Red Sea water. Settle on deck, listen to the briefing and watch the coast open up as you leave the resort belt behind.
You'll snorkel vibrant coral gardens with your guide in the water. Stay with your group, listen to spacing advice and ask if you want a slower pace or extra help with kit.
Lunch is served between snorkel stops so you can eat, drink water and reset in the shade before the next reef visit. Your guide stays close throughout the day.
After the last snorkel stop you cruise back to the marina and transfer to your Marsa Alam hotel. The whole experience is about 8 hours door to door, so keep the rest of your schedule flexible.
Yes. Collection from hotels in the Marsa Alam area is part of this experience. Give your hotel name when you book so the driver can find the right gate, and be ready in the window you are given.
Build the whole 8-hour shape into your day rather than planning something tight immediately afterwards. Traffic along resort roads can slow the van on busy mornings.
No previous experience is required. Your guide briefs you before you start and stays close while you snorkel from the boat.
Say if you are nervous or a weak swimmer so the crew can pace the session and offer flotation where it helps. The reef visits suit first-time snorkellers as well as regular swimmers.
Lunch is served on board between snorkel stops. Say any dietary needs when you confirm your place so the kitchen can try to match them.
Soft drinks beyond what is served may be extra. Bring cash if you want extras on the boat or at the marina before you board.
The day focuses on Hamata and Qulaan, two reef areas south of Marsa Alam known for clear water and healthy coral. The exact snorkel stops depend on sea conditions on the day.
Your crew chooses the safest sites rather than forcing a fixed route in poor weather. That flexibility helps you get the best safe session available.
Swimwear, sun protection and a towel are the basics. Closed shoes help on the boat deck when moving between seating areas.
A dry bag keeps phones off wet surfaces. Reef-safe sunscreen matters on long days in the Marsa Alam sun when you are exposed on deck between snorkel stops.
Snorkel kit including mask, fins and life jacket is provided for the session. Bring your own mask only if you prefer gear you already know fits well.
Fit your kit before you enter the water so you are not adjusting it mid-session. Ask the crew for a different size if anything feels loose or uncomfortable.
This runs for groups from 1 to 15 people. Smaller groups mean more attention from your guide in the water and more space on deck between snorkel stops.
Follow the guide's spacing advice and stay with the group unless told otherwise. Private boat formats keep the whole vessel to your party when booked that way.
About 8 hours including collection and the main boat time. Keep the whole window free rather than squeezing other plans around it, especially if you have an evening flight.
A late appearance at reception shortens time on the water because the boat leaves with the group. Aim to be ready ten minutes before your pickup window.
Families are welcome when children are comfortable with boat travel and snorkelling. Infant seats may be available on transfers where listed.
Say ages when you book so the crew can plan seating, kit sizes and pacing on the water. Younger children may prefer shorter snorkel intervals with more deck time.
This activity needs workable sea conditions. If wind or swell rule it out, the crew may reschedule or switch sites to calmer water.
You will be told as early as they can once morning conditions are clear. Have a loose plan for the rest of the day in case timings shift slightly.
Give your hotel name and a reachable phone number when you book. We'll confirm the pickup window or meeting pin closer to the day.
Notes are the place for dietary needs, ages, or a later pickup if you have an evening plan after the session.
