You'll be riding private electric mountain bike trails above Dalvík on a greatest-hits route through town, forest paths and a valley above the fjord, with your guide setting the pace for your group of up to four and choosing trail difficulty to match how confident you feel on the high-torque e-MTBs.
Your tour begins in Dalvík with a relaxed ride through town so you can get to know the bikes and the harbour setting before any climbing starts. You'll be rolling along forest paths at the foot of the mountain first, building rhythm on natural singletrack while the electric motor quietly takes the sting out of the hills.
Once everyone feels happy, you'll be heading up into a valley above town where the views open over Eyjafjörður and the trail choice widens. Your guide will pick lines that suit your group, from scenic rolls to more playful singletrack, and you'll pause for a traditional Icelandic snack with the fjord spread out below before riding back to base.
Dalvík sits on the shores of Eyjafjörður in North Iceland, and this route uses the forested hillsides and open trails right above the town so you are riding proper mountain scenery without a long transfer. You'll be weaving between quiet town paths, woodland and higher ground in one session, which gives you a real sense of how the fjord and the mountains fit together.
On clear days the coastal light and mountain backdrop make even the warm-up ride feel special, and the valley section adds that extra lift in altitude where the air feels fresher and the trails get a little more adventurous. It's one of the most rideable corners of North Iceland for anyone who wants scenery and fun pedalling in the same outing.
You'll need to be comfortable on a bicycle for a few hours and tall enough for a size S e-bike frame, but you do not need to be a seasoned mountain biker to enjoy this tour. Some off-road experience helps on the moderate sections, though your guide can ease the pace and choose mellower lines whenever you want to keep things relaxed.
Windproof, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear are important because Icelandic mountain weather can shift quickly around the fjord. If you are unsure about fit or ability, mention it when you book and your guide will plan the ride accordingly.
You'll be on premium e-MTBs with helmets, gloves, glasses and jerseys included, and because this is a private session your guide can shape the whole ride around your group rather than a fixed timetable. That means more time on the trails you will actually enjoy, with local knowledge steering you away from anything that feels too much on the day.
It's a great way to sample Dalvík's best riding if you want a half-day adventure that feels personal and unhurried. Equipment, snacks and a guide who knows the lines mean you can focus on the ride, the views and the fun of electric mountain biking in North Iceland.
This is a private tour for your group only, with one to four riders per booking. That keeps the pace flexible and lets your guide tailor trail choice to your ability rather than waiting for strangers.
If your group is larger than four, get in touch before you book and we can arrange a private departure or split the group.
There's no set minimum age, but every rider must be tall enough to use a size S e-bike safely and confidently. Younger or shorter riders should contact us before you book so we can confirm bike fit.
All riders should be comfortable cycling for several hours on mixed terrain including forest paths and moderate climbs.
Moderate trails are available once you are comfortable on the bikes. The electric motor helps on climbs, but you still ride natural singletrack and forest paths with some steeper sections.
Your guide adjusts the route if you prefer a gentler ride, and can point out easier line choices on trickier sections.
High-end electric mountain bikes, helmets, gloves, glasses, jerseys and a traditional Icelandic snack are included for your private group. Your guide leads the whole session and helps with bike setup.
We prepare everything at the base on Stórhólsvegur before you head onto the trails together.
Meet at Stórhólsvegur 5, Dalvík (620). Arrive in good time for your booked departure so your guide can fit bikes, check settings and run a short introduction ride through town.
Parking is available near the base. You'll need to make your own way to the meeting point.
Windproof and waterproof outdoor clothing plus sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended. Dress in layers for changing mountain weather around the fjord.
Riding gloves are provided, but bring extra warm layers if you feel the cold easily on exposed trails.
We run tours in most conditions, but extreme wind, ice or heavy rain can affect which trails we use. Your guide chooses safe routes for the day and may shorten exposed sections if needed.
If we need to change plans for weather or safety, we'll contact you using the details on your booking.
Some off-road cycling experience helps on the moderate sections, but the e-bike motor makes climbs much easier than on a regular mountain bike. Complete beginners may prefer our one-hour taster or the Svarfaðadalur valley tour.
Tell your guide at the start if you want to keep things relaxed so they can choose mellower lines from the start.
After you book, we'll email you a pre-tour preparation note with practical tips for your date.
Check your inbox and spam folder in the days before your tour, and reply if we ask for sizing or experience details.
Yes. This is a private session for your group only, so your guide can pause for photos, adjust the pace and choose trails that suit everyone rather than keeping to a fixed group timetable.
That flexibility is one of the main benefits of the greatest-hits route, especially if riders in your group have different confidence levels on the bike.
