Leave the cabin on horseback and follow oak and chestnut tracks to natural viewpoints above Cabezabellosa. Groups stay at three riders, aged 8 to 60 and under 100 kilograms, so the horses and the terrain stay comfortable. Your equestrian guide leads the way and reads the ground as you go.
You greet the horses at Pisavalles Cabin Forest and mount with your guide. The group is never more than three, so there is time to settle before you leave the meadow. The horses live in semi-freedom on pasture and in the wood.
The line mixes forest tracks and off-path ground through oak and chestnut. Your guide reads the terrain, which can be demanding, and keeps the pace honest rather than rushed. Viewpoints open over the sierra before you turn back and dismount where you began.
The meeting point is Pisavalles Cabin Forest, on the Cabezabellosa to El Torno road at kilometre 1. The ride leaves the cabin and moves through oak and chestnut pasture between the Jerte and Ambroz valleys.
Sierra de Cabezabellosa is the southern edge of the Gredos system. Plasencia, Hervás, and Monfragüe are close enough for the rest of a mountain day.
Riders need to be between 8 and 60 years old and under 100 kilograms. The terrain can be demanding, and those limits protect both you and the horses. Previous trail experience is helpful but not required if you are happy to follow clear instructions.
Wear comfortable clothes and sturdy closed shoes. Long trousers are required in the saddle. If anyone in your group falls outside the age or weight range, the contact session at the cabin is the better outing.
Equestrian route training and natural horsemanship sit behind this ride. The herd is raised here, lives outdoors, and is handled with their welfare first, which is why three riders is the usual maximum.
English and Spanish are both offered. More than fifteen years of guiding these woods means your interpreter can pick ground that suits the group in front of them. If you would rather stay at the cabin, choose the contact session instead.
Meet at Ctra. Cabezabellosa - El Torno, Km 1, 10729 Cabezabellosa, at Pisavalles Cabin Forest. The ride starts from the cabin. Optional return pickup from lodging within 35 kilometres is available.
Riders need to be between 8 and 60 years old and under 100 kilograms. The terrain can be demanding, and those limits protect both you and the horses on mixed woodland ground.
If anyone in your group falls outside that range, choose the cabin contact session instead. That outing has no published age or weight cap and a usual maximum of eight.
Previous trail experience is helpful but not required if you are happy to follow clear instructions in the saddle. Your guide stays with a group of three and sets the pace.
If you have never sat on a horse, say so. We will tell you whether this forest ride or the corral session is the better first outing for your group.
The usual maximum is three. That is a welfare and terrain limit, not just a preference, because the tracks and open woodland need close attention.
Private pairs and solo riders are welcome. If you are more than three, we cannot put everyone on the same forest ride and will say so honestly.
Comfortable clothes, long trousers, and sturdy closed shoes. The ground mixes tracks and open woodland, so sandals are not suitable once you leave the cabin meadow.
A warm layer helps under the oaks. If you already own a riding hat you may bring it; your guide will confirm what to wear before you mount.
No. This outing is the forest ride: out from the cabin along tracks and open ground to viewpoints, limited to three riders aged 8 to 60.
The contact session stays at the cabin to meet, brush, feed, and ride in the corral or meadow, with a usual maximum of eight. Families who want time on the ground should choose that one.
Not on this ride. The published range is 8 to 60. Younger children belong on the cabin contact session, where they can meet the horses without the forest terrain.
Please give ages so we can point you to the right outing. We will not put an under-eight rider on the trail, even with an adult walking beside them.
Dogs are welcome at the cabin if they will stay under control, but a forest ride is not the place for a loose dog among horses on mixed ground.
Tell us if a dog is travelling with you. We will say whether they should wait at the cabin or stay at your lodging while you ride.
Ctra. Cabezabellosa - El Torno, Km 1, 10729 Cabezabellosa, at Pisavalles Cabin Forest. Park and be ready at the agreed time so the group can meet the horses together.
The ride starts from the cabin meadow. Optional return pickup from lodging within 35 kilometres is available if you want collecting.
English and Spanish. Say which you prefer so riding instructions stay in one language once you are in the saddle.
On the trail your guide keeps directions short so the horses stay settled. There is more time to talk at the viewpoints and back at the cabin after you dismount.
The herd is raised here and handled with natural horsemanship. Three riders is the usual maximum, so your guide can stay close and choose ground that suits the group.
Please confirm each rider is aged 8 to 60 and under 100 kilograms so the horses stay comfortable on the trail through the oak wood.
