Starting with a short introduction, you’ll learn how to identify edible plants, their seasonal availability, and how to forage safely and responsibly. Ethical foraging practices will be covered, ensuring that you understand how to gather wild food while preserving the natural ecosystem. You’ll then set off on a guided foraging walk, where you’ll apply your new knowledge by collecting a selection of wild ingredients.
After gathering your finds, the focus shifts to bushcraft skills and outdoor cooking. You’ll be shown how to safely handle, prepare, and cook wild ingredients, with hands-on guidance to create simple yet delicious dishes. Out-of-season produce will also be available to ensure a well-rounded tasting experience. The session ends with a chance to enjoy your creations around the campfire before returning to the starting point.
Set in the peaceful countryside of Ballynahinch, this course takes place within easy reach of Belfast and the Mourne Mountains. The area is rich in diverse plant life, providing the ideal environment to explore foraging and bushcraft skills.

This course is open to all ability levels, from complete beginners to those looking to expand their knowledge of foraging and bushcraft.
Participants must be at least 18 years old. If you have nut allergies or limited mobility, please check in advance to ensure the course is suitable for you.
