You’ll explore secluded coves, gather wild ingredients, and cook fresh meals outdoors, with options for single or multi-day adventures.
You’ll follow sections of the South West Coast Path, learning to safely identify and harvest edible seaweed, shellfish, and coastal plants. Instruction covers sustainable foraging practices and preparation methods so you can enjoy your finds responsibly.
Cooking is done over open fires using traditional methods, with meals featuring foraged ingredients and fresh catches when available. Along the way, you’ll pause at quiet coves and headlands to take in spectacular views and spot wildlife such as grey seals, gannets, and peregrine falcons.
This course takes place along diverse locations in South Devon including river, coastal paths, and beach settings renowned for their natural beauty. Depending on the itinerary, access may involve paddling, walking on uneven terrain, or short transfers by foot. These routes are carefully chosen to offer a balance between adventure and comfort.
The area is rich with coastal wildlife and offers abundant opportunities to explore tidal pools, rocky shores, and sheltered beaches. Each stop provides a unique environment to deepen your understanding of the local ecosystem while enjoying the tranquillity of the sea.
No previous experience is necessary and all specialist equipment for canoeing, cooking, and foraging is provided. Participants should bring appropriate outdoor clothing suitable for coastal conditions and sturdy footwear that can handle wet and uneven ground.
Routes and activities can be adapted to suit different fitness levels and abilities, with gentler options available to ensure everyone can participate safely and enjoyably.
