This full-day adventure is perfect for those seeking an exciting and physically engaging way to enjoy the gorgeous landscapes of the Peak District. Combining the thrill of a 27-mile off-road eBike tour with a white water rafting experience on the River Derwent, this activity provides a balanced mix of scenic cycling and exciting rafting. Whether you’re looking to explore quieter roads, beautiful villages, or experience the fun rapids, this day out offers something for everyone.
The day begins with an exciting eBike tour that starts and ends at the Miners Standard in Winster. Your journey will take you through the charming market village of Winster, which has a rich history of lead mining. From here, you’ll cycle along quiet minor roads to Elton, then continue on to Middleton by Youlgreave with beautiful countryside views throughout. The route is a mix of little-used roads and farm tracks, ultimately leading you to the High Peak Trail. This famous cycle trail will guide you all the way to Black Rock, where you will park the bikes and switch to your rafting gear.
At 1pm, you’ll be transported to the starting point of your white water rafting session on the River Derwent. This exciting 2-hour rafting adventure features several fun and challenging white water sections. Following your rafting adventure, you’ll return to Black Rocks to pick up your bikes and ride the High Peak Trail back towards Winster, passing through the peaceful hamlet of Aldwark. The day concludes with a short cycle back to the Miners Standard where you can unwind and share your experiences.
The starting point for the eBike tour is Winster Cycling Hub, situated in the scenic village of Winster. The route will take you through amazing countryside and charming local villages, including Elton and Middleton by Youlgreave, before heading to the High Peak Trail.
The rafting adventure takes place on the River Derwent, located near Black Rocks, where the action picks up before heading back along the trail.
This tour is designed for those with a moderate level of fitness and comfort on a bike. Participants should be confident cycling on minor roads and tracks.
