Try breathing underwater for the first time on a supervised Discover Scuba Diving session in Cabo de Palos. A PADI instructor will teach essential skills before your open-water dive to six metres in clear Mediterranean water.
Breathing underwater for the first time feels strange until it clicks, and we'll take you through every step at our Los Belones school before you enter the sea. After kit fitting you learn regulator use, mask clearing and buoyancy basics in shallow water, with plenty of time to ask questions and repeat skills until you feel ready.
When skills feel comfortable you make a guided open-water dive with your instructor beside you at all times. Depth stays within six metres so you can focus on enjoying the marine life among local reef and posidonia. After surfacing you rinse kit and have time to debrief with your instructor about what you saw and how the dive felt.
Training dives use sites around the Cabo de Palos headland, where the Mar Menor meets the open Mediterranean and the marine reserve offshore supports rich reef life. Posidonia meadows, bream, octopus and seasonal visitors reward beginners when visibility is good.
Our school in Los Belones is a short drive from the harbour village and coastal walks. Murcia city and Cartagena are within easy reach, so many visitors combine a morning dive with lunch by the sea or an afternoon exploring the coast road.
Minimum age is 10 and you should swim confidently in open water. No prior scuba experience is needed, and we'll teach every skill from scratch in shallow water before your first sea dive.
Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the day. Tell your instructor about any concerns at the briefing so we can adjust pace, depth or technique to help you feel secure throughout the session.
We teach in patient small groups on one of Spain's best-loved dive coasts, with all equipment included and every dive closely supervised from briefing through to surfacing. Our PADI instructors know local sites and choose routes that suit beginner confidence and daily sea conditions.
Many guests describe their first breath underwater as the highlight of a Murcia holiday. We keep ratios tight so your instructor stays within arm's reach during skills and on the dive itself, giving you the confidence to look around and enjoy what lives on the reef.
Meet at the school, try on wetsuit, BCD, regulator and mask, then cover equalisation, hand signals and what to do if you feel uncomfortable at any point during the session.

Your PADI instructor teaches everything on the day, from how the equipment works to basic skills in shallow water before your first open-water dive to six metres maximum depth.
The open-water portion of the session reaches a maximum depth of six metres, which is the standard limit for Discover Scuba Diving programmes under direct instructor supervision.
That depth keeps the dive comfortable for first-timers while still offering plenty to see among Cabo de Palos reefs, posidonia meadows and rocky habitat where fish shelter year round.
Full scuba kit, instructor supervision, confined or shallow skills practice and the open-water dive are all included. We'll fit wetsuit, BCD, regulator, mask and fins at the school before you head to the dive site.
You only need to bring swimwear, a towel and sun protection for before and after the dive. Transport to the meeting point at our Los Belones school is not included.
This is an experience programme rather than a licence course, so you receive a memorable first dive rather than a certification card at the end of the session.
Many guests leave eager to return and dive again after a positive day in the water, building on the skills practised during this session.
Participants must be at least 10 years old under PADI youth diving rules. Anyone under 18 needs parental consent and a parent or guardian present on the day.
Young divers receive the same close supervision as adults throughout skills practice and the open-water dive, with depth and pace adjusted to suit their confidence in the water.
Sessions run with one to six participants, with at least one PADI instructor in the water. An extra guide joins when student-to-instructor ratios require it on busier dates.
Small groups mean more personal coaching during skills and on the dive itself, which helps nervous beginners build confidence at a pace that suits them.
Tell your instructor at any point if you feel nervous, uncomfortable or short of breath. You can repeat skills in shallow water, stay shallower on the dive or surface whenever you need to without judgement.
Discover Scuba is about trying something new safely. There is no pressure to continue if you decide scuba is not for you, and many people feel much calmer after the first few breaths from the regulator.
All sessions start at our dive school at c/ Isaac Peral, 28, Los Belones, Murcia 30385. From there we travel to the dive site chosen for conditions on the day, which is usually a short trip to the Cabo de Palos coast.
Arrive a few minutes early for kit fitting so the briefing is not rushed. Parking is available near the school in Los Belones on most days throughout the season.
Typical sightings include seabream, wrasse, octopus, cuttlefish and schools of small fish among rocky reef and seagrass. Occasional visitors such as eagle rays appear when water temperature and clarity cooperate.
Wildlife is never guaranteed, which is part of diving in a living sea. Your instructor knows local sites and will choose a route that gives you the best chance of active marine life on the day of your dive.
The full session lasts around three hours including briefing, kit fitting, shallow skills practice and the open-water dive. Allow a little extra time for kit return and a debrief after you surface.
We keep the pace unhurried so beginners have time to practise regulator breathing and mask clearing before heading into deeper water with your instructor beside you throughout.
