We take great pride in offering exceptional service to our customers, starting from the moment of their initial brief with us, right up until we pick them up. Our team consists of enthusiastic and dedicated individuals who are passionate about providing an unforgettable experience for you. We provide high-quality canoes and safety equipment and are excited to share our love of this beautiful river with you.
All of our canoes come with two fixed seats and an optional clip-in seat for a third person. We offer larger family canoes that can accommodate up to 2 adults and 2 smaller children, but we advise not to overload the boat.
This question is one of the most frequently asked and often the most difficult to answer, as we strictly follow specific ratios based on the following age groups:
Unfortunately, if your child is under the age of 4, we won't be able to accommodate them.
If your children are under 12, we maintain a strict ratio of one adult per child.
Wear loose, lightweight clothing and appropriate footwear like trainers, aqua boots, or full sandals. Be prepared for the unpredictable British weather. To avoid heatstroke and sunburn, dress accordingly when the sun is out.
Wear a waterproof and windproof layer and layer up as per your comfort. Do not wear Wellington boots, flip-flops, or jeans. And lastly, be prepared to get splashed!
There is limited mobile coverage on the river. There's a chance of signal at hotspots like Hereford & Ross-On-Wye. Relax, switch off, and ignore those notifications!
We strictly prohibit alcohol on the river. Enjoy drinks after the trip or join us in the pub later!
We rarely cancel due to rain, but please bring appropriate gear. Your safety is important to us, so we won't operate in extreme weather or unsuitable river levels. If this happens, we'll contact you and reschedule.
Of course, smaller and well-behaved dogs are more than welcome to join us for canoeing. However, larger dogs can cause instability due to the movement of their weight inside the canoe, increasing the chance of capsizing. Similarly, active or excitable dogs who are constantly moving or jumping out to swim can also contribute to instability. Ultimately, it is up to you to decide whether your dog would be suitable for canoeing.
We have had dozens of dogs join us on our trips and have had no issues so far. We do not provide buoyancy aids for dogs as they are usually good swimmers.
Please note that we do not allow dogs to be tied to the canoe in case of a capsize.

We had a great trip with Hereford Canoe Hire. The equipment was perfect, and the scenery was amazing. We completed a 2 day trip from Hoarwithy to Monmouth - stopping overnight at Ross-On-Wye. Highlights included spotting lots of Kingfishers and also a Terrapin! What a great adventure!
We partner with Rewilding Britain to help protect our natural spaces for future adventures.
