Build confidence on the water with structured kitesurfing lessons designed for every level, from complete beginners through to advanced riders improving jumps and transitions. Training takes place on the beaches around Tarifa, where consistent wind conditions and experienced instructors create ideal conditions for progression.
Lessons are available for every stage of progression, allowing you to join at the level that matches your current experience. Coaching follows the IKO system and uses radio headsets for direct communication while you are on the water.
Beginner Course – IKO Level 1
Perfect for complete beginners, this stage focuses on understanding the wind, learning safety systems, setting up the equipment, and developing kite control on the beach. You’ll practise launching, landing, and steering techniques before progressing towards water-based exercises.
Intermediate Course – IKO Level 2
Once kite control feels comfortable, sessions move into the water. You’ll learn body dragging techniques, practise recovering the board, relaunching the kite after crashes, and complete your first waterstarts and short rides across the water.
Independent Course – IKO Level 3
Designed for riders already completing waterstarts, this level focuses on consistency and independence. Coaching covers edging, speed control, riding upwind, self-launching procedures, and understanding right of way rules to help you ride confidently without assistance.
Advanced Course – IKO Level 4
Advanced riders can work on improving style, control, and technical manoeuvres. Sessions may include jumping, transitions, carving turns, toe-side riding, rotations, and more advanced kite handling depending on your goals and experience.
Lessons take place around Tarifa on the southern coast of Spain, one of Europe’s best-known destinations for kitesurfing thanks to its reliable wind conditions and wide sandy beaches. Sessions are normally based around Los Lances and Valdevaqueros, both offering plenty of open space for learning safely while enjoying views across the Strait of Gibraltar towards Morocco.
Away from the beach, Tarifa has a relaxed atmosphere with cafés, tapas bars, surf shops, and a strong watersports community throughout the year. The meeting point for lessons is usually at Agua Chiringuito, with beach locations chosen each day according to wind direction and conditions.
Complete beginners are welcome, and no previous kitesurfing experience is required for the beginner stages. Lessons are designed around individual progression, so students can join at the level that best matches their current ability, from first-time flyers through to independent riders refining advanced techniques.
Participants should feel comfortable in the water and prepared for physical activity in changing wind conditions. Instructors will guide you through safety procedures carefully before entering the water, helping you progress at a pace that feels manageable and enjoyable.
Teaching focuses on keeping lessons personal, structured, and safety-led while still maintaining a relaxed atmosphere on the beach. Small student-to-instructor ratios allow for more direct coaching time, while radio communication gives constant support during water sessions instead of only receiving feedback once back on shore.
The school operates year-round using updated equipment, rescue boat support, accident and liability insurance, and internationally recognised IKO teaching standards. Flexible lesson structures, multilingual instructors, and progression-based coaching make it suitable for both complete beginners and riders looking to continue developing their skills over several days.
