Channel your inner Robin Hood on a spacious outdoor archery range near Blyth. This one-hour beginner-friendly session pairs recurve bows with clear coaching, safety cover, and playful target challenges for families, friends, and groups.
You start with a clear safety briefing and an introduction to the recurve bow. Instructors show stance, draw, and release, then stay close while you take your first shots so technique builds quickly and confidently.
Once everyone is comfortable, the session moves into target practice and skill-based challenges. Friendly competition keeps the energy up, whether you are aiming for consistency or chasing the bullseye with your group.
The hour wraps with a final round of challenges and a chance to be crowned the Ultimate Archery Warrior. You leave having learnt proper basics, fired plenty of arrows, and shared a lively outdoor experience.
The range sits in open countryside at Blyth, within easy reach of Sheffield, Doncaster, Nottingham, and Worksop. The outdoor arena gives you space to shoot without feeling rushed or crowded.
Being outdoors is part of the fun. You get fresh air, room to move between the line and the targets, and a setting that suits families, stag and hen groups, and team days alike.
No archery experience is needed. If you can follow simple instructions and listen carefully during the briefing, you can take part. Equipment is available for different heights and for left- and right-handers.
Participants must be aged 6 or over. Wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you can move in. Anyone who appears under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to shoot.
Every session is fully instructed with a structured safety briefing before anyone picks up a bow. Kit is maintained on site, with options suited to tall and small guests so the whole group can join in.
The tone is competitive but welcoming. Instructors keep things clear and good-humoured so first-timers feel supported while still getting an action-packed hour on the line.

No. This session is designed for complete beginners as well as anyone who has tried archery before. Your instructor walks everyone through stance, draw, and release before you start shooting for real.
The pace is friendly and competitive without being intimidating, so families, friends, and corporate groups can enjoy the hour together.
Participants need to be at least 6 years old. Younger guests take part with the same coaching and safety briefing as the rest of the group.
If you are booking for a mixed-age family, let the team know ages when you book so equipment can be ready for smaller archers.
Sessions run with a minimum of 2 people and a maximum of 12. That keeps the line moving and gives everyone plenty of shots on the targets.
If your group is larger, ask about splitting across sessions or combining with another activity on the same visit.
Recurve bows and arrows are provided, along with targets and any safety kit needed for the session. Left- and right-handed guests are both catered for, and there is kit suited to different heights and strengths.
You do not need to bring your own gear. Own equipment is not used, so everyone shoots with maintained centre kit.
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in and closed-toe shoes. Dress for the weather, including waterproofs if rain is likely, so you stay warm and focused on the line.
Open-toed footwear is not allowed. A spare layer or change of clothes is useful on colder or wetter days.
Sessions usually go ahead in light rain. The team only postpones when conditions are unsafe, such as very high winds or lightning that would make shooting unsafe.
If a change is needed, you will be contacted as early as possible and offered a new date that works for your group.
