Activity Highlights:

Unleash your adventurous spirit and dive into the world of skydiving with our Accelerated Free Fall (AFF) Level 1 course.

This exhilarating journey begins at 13,000ft, where you’ll freefall for an unforgettable 50 seconds, before deploying your own parachute and guiding yourself around the sky for five minutes.

Upon landing safely back at the Drop Zone, you can decide whether you’re ready to continue with us on this thrilling path and become a certified, club member skydiver.

What is AFF Level One?

AFF (Accelerated Free Fall) Level 1 is the first level in a training program for learning skydiving independently. The AFF program is designed to teach the skills needed to skydive solo, and Level 1 is the beginning of that journey.

In the Level 1 course, you are introduced to the basics of skydiving. You receive ground training on safety procedures, equipment, exit, free fall techniques, canopy control, and landing. The highlight of the Level 1 course is typically the first jump, which is performed from a high altitude (13,000 feet), with two instructors jumping alongside you. The instructors maintain direct contact with you during freefall, giving hand signals to correct body position and ensure safety.

After deploying the parachute (which you do on your own), the instructors guide you via radio on how to steer the parachute and land safely. The goal of Level 1 is to teach you the fundamental skills of skydiving while ensuring you can handle the basics of the jump, including the freefall, parachute deployment, and landing.

Once Level 1 is successfully completed, you can progress through further AFF levels to gain more skills, confidence, and eventually achieve solo skydiver status.

Why Choose This Course?

If you have a serious interest in skydiving, this AFF program is specifically designed for you. Considered a fast-track route to becoming a British Skydiving ‘Category 8’ Qualified Solo Skydiver, the program is our most intensive offering. We keep group sizes small, a maximum of four students, to provide individualised attention, ensuring optimal learning conditions.

Why Choose Us?

  • We have a ‘students first’ approach: Our instructors are with you every step of the way, providing direct instruction and feedback during each 50-second skydive. This hands-on method helps improve performance, build confidence and mitigate fears.
  • Comprehensive ground training: Before taking the leap, our certified AFF instructors provide a minimum of six hours of ground training, covering all essential knowledge to ensure a successful jump.
  • On-site accommodation: We offer accommodation on-site for just £10 per night, offering you the convenience of staying close to your learning area.
  • Top-notch instructors: Our instructors have logged over 5,000 skydives each. With their wealth of experience, you’ll get the best possible training.

Suitability and Requirements

This course is suitable for anyone aged 16 and above. Although a self-declaration medical certificate is required, you won’t need a doctor’s signature to participate in an AFF skydive. If you have any health concerns, please consult with your doctor before participating. We accommodate requests for female instructors; please let us know at the time of booking if this is your preference.

The weight limit for an AFF Skydive at Beccles is 15 stone 7 pounds (99 Kg’s) for men and 14 stone (89Kg’s) for women, inclusive of clothing.

Frequently Asked Questions

The duration of the course depends on each individual while each student sets their own pace for the jumps and depends also on other factors like weather, sunset times, condition etc. However, the average duration to finish the complete AFF course is appr. 3-4 days. In another 2-3 days, all your needed solo jumps (consolidation jumps) can be managed as well.

You can complete Level One in one day.

There are no set course dates as the courses are run individually for each student and can be organised during the whole year (365 days). Pick your best suitable dates for your trip and put in a booking request.

The number of daily jumps depends on you, your energy and physical condition (adrenaline takes a lot of energy) as well as your budget. Most students reach an average of 3-5 AFF jumps and an average of 4-6 consolidation jumps per day.

As we will provide you with all the necessary skydiving kit (jumpsuit, helmet, goggles, altimeter), please make sure to bring comfortable and sportive clothing and shoes. Trainers are preferred for jumping. During the winter, we also recommend to wear long sleeves and to bring tight gloves, hat and warm layers according to the seasonal climate. If you wear glasses, bring your sporting glasses or lenses. If needed you can wear your glasses during the jump, for the skydive we will provide you with skydiving goggles to wear on top of your own glasses.

For the AFF course there is no need to bring a doctor’s medical. If you are uncertain about any possible physical limitations however, we recommend to consult your doctor (regular house doctor, no flight doctor required) – just to be on the safe side. Prior to start the course, you will have to sign our “student waiver” which excludes any physical limitations that might impair the skydiving activity, such as heart problems, epilepsy, diabetes, etc. If you have any doubt, you can discuss with us once you put in your booking request.

Without any previous experience, you can start your AFF course right away and jump AFF Level 1 as your first skydive. The courses are designed for beginners and you will be taught all the necessary requirements in the ground school prior to jumping in order to feel secure and confident about your first jump. The tandem jump is not mandatory, but some choose it as a good way to be introduced to the free fall in a more relaxed and less pressured environment.

The beauty of booking your Level 1 only is that you can see if it is for you before you extend to the full course on-site.

Once you have graduated from your full AFF Course, you are still officially a “student in consolidation status” being supervised by an instructor. During the next jumps which you will do on your own, there are still some skills for you to learn and to perform while receiving learning aims and feedback of your previous AFF instructor on each jump. During those appr. 10 solo jumps you will gain more confidence and routine before working on the next step of your skydiving career: the A-license which you can acquire with a minimum of 25 jumps in total.

You are booking Level One only – you can extend to the full course on-site if you love the Level One (we bet you will…!).

Finishing and passing the AFF Course does not make you eligible for the A-license right away as this would be a later hurdle and requiring more skills. For the A-license, there is a minimum of 25 jumps needed as well as fulfilment of other skills like formation skydiving basics, packing a parachute etc. For all of that you need appr. 2-3 weeks time to finish it.
