After the drive from Hanoi you trek Lung Vai and remote hamlets before heading to Dong Van and Meo Vac along legendary passes. Bao Lac market and river valley walks precede Ba Be jungle days with steep sections and rewarding views.
The trip finishes with gentler trails, Dau Dang Waterfall, motorboat through Puong Cave, and return to Hanoi. Minimum age ten reflects daily walking load and homestay conditions.
We focus on multi-day village trekking in Ha Giang and Ba Be with guides who walk these paths between harvests and know which homestay nights need an earlier start. Our team builds relationships with Dao, Tay, and Lo Lo families so evenings feel like hospitality, not a staged stop.
We adjust daily distance for heat and trail conditions, coordinate permits and picnic lunches on long ridge days, and keep group size modest for narrow forest tracks. You walk with people who have made northeast trekking their craft and want nine days to feel immersive, well fed, and safely led.
Day one pickup around 8:00 in Hanoi Old Quarter. Expect full day transfer before first homestay.
Day nine brings you back to Hanoi in the mid afternoon after the final lake viewpoints and lunch. Traffic into the capital can vary, so your driver keeps you updated on arrival time.
Most departures include hotel pickup in Hanoi Old Quarter when your accommodation is in that area. Your guide or driver meets you at the agreed time, usually between 7:00 and 8:30 depending on the itinerary for 9 Day Trekking in Northern Vietnam.
If you are staying outside the Old Quarter, the team will confirm the most practical meeting point before you travel. Bring your passport for hotel check ins and any passport checks in border corridor areas on this route.
Expect full days with walking, transfers, and outdoor activity. Pace varies by product; your guide adjusts rest stops and daily distance to the group.
Tell the team before you travel if you have mobility concerns or need a lighter option on a specific day so they can advise what is realistic on the route.
Pack light, quick drying clothing suitable for walking and outdoor activities, sturdy shoes with good grip, a small daypack, insect repellent, sun protection, and a rain layer. A reusable water bottle is useful on active days.
For cave visits or cooler mountain nights, include one long sleeve layer and trousers. The team can advise on activity specific kit such as swimwear for lake or bay stops.
Nights are in family homestays, simple lodges, or town hotels depending on the stage of the route. Homestays are welcoming and may use shared facilities; hotel nights add hot showers after long travel days.
Single room supplements may apply on hotel nights where available. The team confirms rooming when they contact you after booking.
Main meals are included on most days as noted in the day by day plan, typically breakfast, lunch, and dinner on travel days. Vietnamese cuisine features fresh rice, noodles, vegetables, and regional specialties.
Let the team know dietary needs or allergies when they contact you after booking. Snacks for long drives or hikes are a good idea, and some evenings may offer optional drinks outside the included plan.
Yes. Solo guests are welcome and often join small groups with a maximum of fifteen travellers. Shared transport and group meals make it easy to meet others without needing your own vehicle.
Single room supplements may apply on some hotel nights if you prefer a private room. Homestay or lodge nights may use shared layouts by design. The team can outline rooming for your dates.
Northern and central Vietnam can be warm and humid in summer, cooler in winter, and wet during seasonal rains. Routes may be adjusted for safety on muddy trails, high water, or poor visibility while keeping the spirit of the trip.
If conditions require a significant change, the team will explain options on the ground. Flexible clothing layers help you stay comfortable on the water, in caves, or on mountain passes.
Bring your passport for the entire trip. This route includes areas near the border where officials may check ID, and the team arranges any local permits the group needs.
Keep a digital copy of your passport and travel insurance details. For itineraries with domestic flights, passport details may be requested in advance to secure seats.
Minimum ages vary by product; check the listing details or ask the team before you book. Families are welcome when children can manage the walking, driving, or water activities described for the trip.
Life jackets are provided where boating or kayaking is included. Inform the team of children's ages so rooming and vehicle seating can be planned.
Once your place is secured, the team may contact you for passport names, dietary requirements, hotel details for pickup, and any optional activities you are considering.
You receive practical joining instructions closer to departure. If you have questions about pacing, equipment, or rooming, ask the team before you travel so everything is clear before day one.
About the centre
Hanoi
We are a Hanoi-based team specialising in small-group adventure travel across Vietnam, from jungle treks and national parks to cycling routes, off-road journeys, and multi-day expeditions that reach less-visited corners of the north and beyond. Our guides grew up in these landscapes and work in the field day to day, so you get practical support, local insight, and itineraries built around real trail conditions rather than brochure highlights.
Whether you join a fixed-departure tour or tailor a longer route, we focus on steady pacing, clear communication before you travel, and hands-on help with logistics such as hotel pickup in the Old Quarter, meal preferences, and passport details when arrangements require them. You travel with people who know the terrain and care that each day feels organised, welcoming, and true to the adventure you came for.
