This accommodation-based sea kayaking adventure focuses on exploring the diverse coastline of Rab Island while enjoying the comfort of returning to a bed, shower, and shared meals each evening. Over six paddling days, you’ll travel along forested shores, sandy bays, geological cliffs and historic islands, discovering places that are often only accessible from the water.
The route aims to circumnavigate Rab Island while also visiting nearby islands such as Sv. Grgur and Goli Otok, along with the fjord-like Zavratnica Bay on the mainland. With flexible daily plans guided by local knowledge, the journey adapts to conditions to ensure the safest and most enjoyable paddling experience possible.
This eight-day kayaking holiday combines exploration of the Adriatic coastline with comfortable accommodation each night. The tour is designed for paddlers who enjoy active days on the water while returning to a relaxed base where they can shower, unwind, and enjoy shared meals. With six days of kayaking covering around 116 km, the trip offers a balanced pace suitable for beginners with some fitness as well as more experienced paddlers.
Each morning begins with breakfast before transferring to the day’s launch point. From there, the group sets out to explore Rab Island’s varied shoreline, stopping at beaches, caves, and viewpoints along the way. Lunch is typically enjoyed as a relaxed beach picnic before continuing the route.
Afternoons usually finish between mid-afternoon and early evening, leaving time to rest, swim, or explore the nearby town before dinner. Because this is an accommodation-based trip, the itinerary remains flexible, allowing guides to adjust routes based on weather, sea conditions, and group preferences.
With more than fifteen years dedicated solely to sea kayaking along the Croatian Adriatic, the guiding team brings deep local knowledge and a relaxed approach to exploration. Rather than rushing through routes, the philosophy focuses on taking time to experience the coastline properly — paddling at a steady pace, discovering quiet bays, and sharing insights about the landscapes and history along the way.
Trips are intentionally kept small so that every guest receives personal guidance and the group can travel smoothly together. Local guides know these waters intimately, from weather patterns to hidden beaches and safe routes between islands. Their experience ensures each journey remains both safe and enjoyable while offering a genuine connection to the region.

Guests arrive on Rab Island and meet the team before settling into their accommodation for the week. The evening is spent enjoying a welcome dinner and learning about the upcoming adventure, giving everyone the chance to get to know the group and guides before paddling begins.
The following morning begins with breakfast and a full trip briefing before heading to the launch point near the historic town of Rab. From the water, the group paddles along dramatic coastal cliffs beneath the town’s ancient fortification walls, which have stood for over two thousand years. Continuing around the Frkanj Peninsula, the scenery gradually shifts from historic stone architecture to the deep green shoreline of Kalifront Forest. This protected forest area is known for its dense Mediterranean vegetation and quiet coves. The day finishes in the peaceful bay of Kampor before returning to base for dinner.

After breakfast, the group returns to the water near Kampor to begin exploring the northern coastline of Rab. The route leads toward the small sandy islands of Maman, where clear shallow water and quiet beaches provide the perfect place for a swim or a relaxed break. Continuing along the coastline, paddlers reach Cape Sorinj where rugged rock formations meet hidden bays and historic coastal landmarks, including one of the oldest water mills along the Adriatic coast.
The following day introduces one of the trip’s most intriguing destinations. From Lopar, the group paddles across open water to reach Sv. Grgur Island. Once used as a political prison, the island now stands quiet and largely untouched, with dramatic cliffs and fascinating geological formations. Lunch may be enjoyed at a small local restaurant when open, before continuing around the island’s coastline and returning to Rab, stopping at sandy beaches such as Crnika Bay along the way.

The journey continues along Rab’s eastern coastline, an area known for its geological diversity and impressive cliffs. Paddling through the Rab Geological Park, the group explores caves such as Medova Buža where swimmers can dive into clear blue water beneath towering rock formations. Further along the coast, secluded beaches and hidden caves provide opportunities to pause and explore before reaching the lunar-like landscape of Mag Bay.
Another highlight of the expedition comes with the crossing toward the mainland to explore Zavratnica Bay within the Velebit Nature Park. Often described as a fjord-like inlet, the narrow bay cuts deep into the mountains and offers calm waters ideal for kayaking and swimming. A submerged wartime shipwreck lies just below the surface, making this a fascinating stop for snorkelling. After exploring the bay, the group hikes up to viewpoints overlooking the canyon before returning across the channel.

One of the longest paddling days begins with a crossing toward Goli Otok, an island known for its striking landscape and complex history as a former prison island. Paddling along its rugged coastline reveals abandoned structures and dramatic rock formations shaped by the Adriatic winds.
After exploring the island on foot and enjoying lunch, the group continues paddling along the surrounding islands before completing the final stage of the Rab circumnavigation. The evening concludes with a farewell dinner shared with the group, often featuring freshly prepared fish and local wine while reflecting on the week’s adventure.

The meeting point for the trip is in Banjol 341 on the island of Rab. Guests arriving by car can reach the island via the regular Stinica–Mišnjak ferry crossing, which takes around 15 minutes. From the Mišnjak ferry terminal, the meeting point is just a short drive along the coast toward the town of Rab.
For guests travelling without a car, Rab is also easily accessible from Rijeka. A fast passenger catamaran connects Rijeka and Rab, making the island convenient to reach for travellers arriving in Rijeka from Zagreb, Ljubljana, or Trieste. It is also possible to reach Rab by bus from Zagreb and Zadar. For added convenience, the tour organizer also offers airport pick-up services.
Free parking is available for guests arriving by car.

However, all accommodation is located within a short walking distance of the meeting point, making it easy to access daily activities. Guests who prefer to organise their own accommodation are welcome to do so, provided it is located nearby.

Each day includes regular breaks for swimming, lunch, and rest, allowing participants to recover while enjoying the coastline.
Guides provide a full safety briefing and paddling instruction at the beginning of the trip, ensuring everyone understands the techniques required for efficient and comfortable paddling. The flexible itinerary also allows guides to adjust routes depending on weather conditions and the ability of the group, ensuring the experience remains enjoyable for everyone.
Participants should have a moderate level of fitness and be comfortable spending several hours outdoors. While kayaking distances vary each day, the overall pace is relaxed with regular stops along the coastline for rest and exploration.
Because this is an accommodation-based tour, you return to a comfortable base each evening rather than camping on remote beaches. This allows participants to rest properly each night, making it easier to enjoy the paddling days that follow.
Stable sit-in Prijon sea kayaks equipped with rudders are used throughout the trip, making them ideal for coastal exploration. They are suitable for both beginners and experienced paddlers, offering excellent stability while still allowing smooth and efficient movement through the water.
Each kayak comes with essential safety equipment and storage compartments for personal items needed during the day. Before departure, guides assist participants in adjusting the seating and equipment to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience on the water.

Rooms typically include either double or single beds depending on availability. If one property cannot accommodate the entire group, guests may stay in nearby apartments within walking distance of the main base.
Breakfast is served each morning before kayaking begins, offering a range of fresh fruits, bread, spreads, cereals, eggs, coffee, tea and juice. These breakfasts provide plenty of energy for the day’s paddling.
Lunch is usually enjoyed as a relaxed beach picnic during the day, including fresh salads, sandwiches and fruit. Several dinners are also included, often featuring locally sourced fish, vegetables, and Mediterranean dishes prepared with ingredients from nearby producers.
Yes, dietary requirements can usually be accommodated with advance notice. During the booking process, participants are asked to provide information about allergies or dietary restrictions so meals can be prepared accordingly.
The guiding team works closely with local food producers and prepares many meals themselves, allowing flexibility when adjusting menus. This ensures everyone can safely enjoy the food throughout the trip.
Solo travellers are very welcome and often make up a large portion of the group. The small group size encourages a relaxed and social atmosphere, making it easy for participants to connect with others throughout the week.
Shared meals, daily paddling, and time spent exploring together naturally create a friendly group dynamic. Many guests leave the trip having formed lasting friendships with fellow travellers.
