What to Expect

Fairfield Horseshoe

Fairfield Horseshoe offers a classic Lake District walk starting from Ambleside. The route spans 11 miles and includes 8 Wainwright summits. Traversing from Low Pike to Hart Crag and Fairfield, it showcases panoramic views toward Windermere and Grasmere. The terrain varies, encompassing fell side lanes, woodland, steep ridges, and stony summit plateaus.

Scafell Pike

The ascent to England’s highest peak, Scafell Pike, begins at Seathwaite. The 8.8-mile route covers 4 Wainwrights, including Great End and Broad Crag. The journey involves traversing Grains Ghyll path and Corridor Route, offering impressive vistas. The challenging terrain features mountain paths, rough rocky ground, and exposed sections.

Great Gable via the Southern Traverse

Starting from Seathwaite, the hike to Great Gable spans 6.5 miles and features 3 Wainwrights. The route ascends via Sty Head Tarn, exploring Great Gable’s South Traverse with Kern Knotts and Napes Needle. It promises an adventurous experience with exposed mountain paths, rough ground, and stony plateaus.

Helvellyn via Striding and Squirrel Edges

The Glenridding Visitor Centre serves as the starting point for this 9.3-mile journey covering 3 Wainwrights. Ascending via Birkhouse Moor, the hike navigates the iconic Striding Edge and Swirral Edge. This adventurous trek involves exposed mountain paths and stony summit plateaus.

Skiddaw

Beginning near Bassenthwaite village, the ascent up Skiddaw takes a scenic NW ridge route. The 9.6-mile hike explores Ullock Pike, Long Side, and Skiddaw, offering expansive views of the Lake District. The route encompasses mountain paths and rough rocky ground.

Kentmere Horseshoe

This 13.3-mile Kentmere Round starts from Kentmere hamlet. Traversing Yoke, Ill Bell, and Thornthwaite Crag, it offers remote ridge walking and scenic views. The hike includes navigational challenges and diverse terrains like mountain paths and stony plateaus.
