What to Expect

This sailing trip takes you on a journey to discover the islands of the West Coast, where puffins and other seabirds are the stars. As you sail aboard the Provident, a 1924 Brixham Trawler, you’ll have the opportunity to explore several islands, including Lunga, the Treshnish Islands, and Staffa, with a chance to visit Muck and Canna if the weather permits.

While at the islands, you’ll anchor overnight and enjoy the tranquillity of the land after the day’s tourists leave, offering a peaceful and unique experience. All meals are provided on board, from hearty breakfasts to delicious evening meals, ensuring you’ll be well-fed during your adventure.

Location

The trip departs from Oban, a lively harbour town on the West Coast of Scotland. From here, you’ll set sail to nearby islands, each offering stunning coastal views, wildlife, and rich history. 

The sailing routes are carefully planned to ensure you experience the best of what the region has to offer.

Accommodation

The Provident offers four twin cabins, each equipped with USB charging points, LED lighting, and heating. If you're travelling alone, you will typically have your own cabin, but sharing may be an option depending on availability. 

There is a drying area on board to ensure you’re comfortable, regardless of the weather.

Prerequisites

No prior sailing experience is needed for this trip. However, participants should be in good general health and be able to handle the physical nature of being on a boat, including moving between cabins and deck areas. 

Anyone with concerns regarding their physical ability is encouraged to discuss these prior to booking.

Your Skippers

Steve has sailed since his childhood and brings vast experience from British waters, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean. He has participated in the Fastnet race and is a qualified Yachtmaster Offshore with a commercial endorsement. His passion for sailing is matched by his commitment to providing guests with a memorable and safe experience.

Morag’s adventurous spirit led her to leave the NHS to pursue her passion for sailing. Growing up surrounded by boats and outdoor adventures, she brings an intuitive touch to the voyage, ensuring every guest is comfortable and well-catered for. With her love of good food, she ensures all meals are hearty and locally sourced, adding another layer to the experience.
