Explore Scotland’s west coast on a unique sailing experience aboard a historic vessel. Everything you need for a memorable journey is included in the price—meals, snacks, cakes, and accommodation—so all you need to do is relax and enjoy the experience. Discover remote islands, ancient sites, and local delicacies as you navigate the waters south of Oban and beyond. Whether you’re an experienced sailor or completely new to it, this adventure offers a perfect blend of exploration, relaxation, and hands-on sailing opportunities.
During this six-night experience, you’ll sail from Oban to lesser-known destinations in the Firth of Lorn, with highlights including the Garvellachs and the island of Gigha. Each stop offers something special, whether it’s the chance to visit a 6th-century monastery, enjoy freshly caught seafood, or simply take in the beautiful landscapes. The flexibility of the itinerary allows adjustments based on weather and the group’s preferences, ensuring a memorable voyage.
Life aboard is a mix of hands-on sailing and time to relax. You’ll be encouraged to help with setting the sails and steering the ship, guided by an experienced and friendly crew. For downtime, the spacious deckhouse provides a warm and cosy retreat, and below deck, you’ll find comfortable cabins, hearty meals, and even a heated drying area for wet gear. Evenings will be spent enjoying delicious local food, chatting with fellow guests, or sharing a dram of whisky from the boat’s collection.
The journey begins and ends at Dunstaffnage Marina, just north of Oban. This location offers a perfect base to explore Scotland’s west coast, with easy access to both the Firth of Lorn and nearby sea lochs.
The marina has excellent facilities and is easily reachable by public transport via the West Highland Line from Glasgow. For those driving, parking is available at the marina for £5 per day.
Provident offers four twin cabins, each equipped with heating, USB charging points, and ample storage. The forepeak cabin, which includes a double and two single bunks, is ideal for groups or families. Additional micro cabins in the saloon provide privacy for solo travellers or those seeking more space.
Beds are cosy but well-designed for a comfortable stay on board. All bedding is provided, along with a heated drying area for clothing and a shared shower for guests.
No prior sailing experience is required, but participants should be open to learning and comfortable with light physical activity. Access to the cabins involves navigating steps with handholds, so guests should feel confident managing this.
