We had an amazing time! Beautiful location and a great guide!

This five-day winter mountain walking experience offers a chance to climb some of the most remote Munro summits in Torridon, Kintail, and Wester Ross. The week is designed for mountain enthusiasts who want to enjoy winter conditions and benefit from expert guidance on safety and equipment throughout. Each day focuses on exploring different peaks with a mix of challenging terrain and beautiful surroundings.
The itinerary begins with an evening arrival followed by five full days on the mountain. Each day targets a specific summit or ridge, often including iconic peaks such as those in the Torridon range and nearby areas like An Teallach or Kintail. The group will travel by minibus to different start points, allowing access to a wide range of winter terrain. While the mountains offer solitude away from busier areas, the guides ensure your safety and provide advice on navigating snow and ice with crampons and ice axes.
During the days, the focus is on progressing through winter mountain conditions with regular pauses to discuss route choice, weather, and safe techniques. Despite the remote locations, the group returns each evening to comfortable accommodation or campsite, depending on the booking option. Evenings provide time to relax, share stories, and enjoy local homemade food. Each week can adapt based on weather and group ability, with the goal of achieving as many summits as conditions allow.
This package includes six nights accommodation at the Rock Villa guest house on the shores of Lochcarron. All meals are provided, using fresh, local ingredients. Daily transport to and from mountain start points is included, along with all specialist equipment. Guests benefit from a welcoming atmosphere with cosy communal spaces to unwind after mountain days.
Staying at Castle Cottage offers six nights of local bed and breakfast accommodation with en-suite twin or double rooms available. Breakfast, lunch, and evening meals are provided each day. As with the Rock Villa option, daily transport, specialist winter equipment, and expert guiding are all included. The location is central in Lochcarron village, close to local shops and cafés.
This option includes five guided mountain days, all specialist winter equipment, and daily transport to mountain starts. Participants arrange their own accommodation and food. The area offers a variety of local B&Bs, hotels, campsites, and bunkhouses, many within walking distance of shops and eateries. Free transfers to and from Strathcarron rail station are also included.
The trip takes place in the North West Highlands of Scotland, focusing on the Torridon mountains and surrounding areas of Kintail and Wester Ross. This region is known for its variety of peaks, dramatic ridges, and peaceful surroundings far from the busier Scottish mountain hubs. The area’s geology and landscape offer diverse terrain, with plenty of options for winter walking at different grades.
Lochcarron serves as the base for the trip and is a small village on the shores of the sea loch of the same name. It provides easy access to accommodation, local shops, and eateries, as well as connections to public transport including the Strathcarron rail station. This quiet location offers a good balance of remoteness and convenience for the trip.
Participants should have experience in summer hillwalking and a good level of fitness to handle multiple long days in winter mountain conditions. You do not need previous winter walking experience, but you should be prepared for cold weather, snow, and ice on rough terrain. The guides will provide instruction on all specialist equipment, including crampons and ice axes.
The guides live and work in the area year-round, bringing detailed local knowledge and experience to every trip. Their understanding of local weather patterns, wildlife, and terrain ensures safe and enjoyable days in the mountains. The packages include high-quality food and accommodation with the option to suit a variety of budgets, whether fully inclusive or organising your own stay.
The trips are designed to offer value and flexibility with clear pricing options, expert instruction, and all necessary specialist equipment included. Free transfers from Strathcarron rail station provide easy access for those travelling by public transport. This combination of local expertise, well-planned logistics, and care for the environment creates a reliable and rewarding experience for participants.
