Time in the outdoors can reset your pace and clear your head. Set within Dartmoor National Park, this retreat combines guided outdoor activities with space to slow down and reconnect. With home-cooked meals and on-site accommodation included, everything is organised so you can focus on being present.
Your time begins by settling into your accommodation and meeting the rest of the group. Once everyone has arrived, the retreat rhythm naturally takes shape. Mornings may start gently, giving you time to ease into the day before heading out onto the moor or into the surrounding landscape. Some sessions take place on site, while others venture further afield, depending on the programme and group interests.
On-site activities focus on practical outdoor skills and teamwork. You might learn fire lighting techniques, try open-air cooking, practise shelter building or take part in group challenges designed to build confidence and cooperation. River dipping offers a refreshing way to experience the environment, while bushcraft sessions provide useful knowledge you can take home with you. Evenings are often spent around the open fire, sharing food and conversation in a relaxed setting.
Off-site days introduce you to more adventurous options across Dartmoor. Rock climbing sessions, ridge walking and hiking routes allow you to experience the landscape from different angles. Navigation and map reading skills are woven into these outings, helping you build confidence in the outdoors. For those wanting something different, weaseling through narrow granite formations adds a hands-on challenge. Each activity is guided, and the pace is adapted to suit the group, ensuring there is a balance between activity and downtime throughout the week.
Based within Dartmoor National Park in Devon, the retreat is surrounded by open moorland, granite tors and winding rivers. The area is known for its wide views and varied terrain, offering everything from gentle walking trails to more technical scrambling routes. Being immersed in this landscape means you are never far from fresh air and open space, whether you are learning new skills on site or heading out for a guided day in the hills.
Guests stay on site with a choice of shared bunkhouse accommodation or private family accommodation in Turner Hall. The bunkhouse offers family rooms, shared bathroom facilities and a communal lounge area where everyone can gather in the evenings. For those wanting additional privacy, Turner Hall provides a more exclusive option while still being part of the retreat atmosphere. Open fires and shared meals create a welcoming environment after active days outdoors.
Participants must be aged 12 or over. A minimum of six people is required for the retreat to run. Activities are suitable for beginners, though a reasonable level of general fitness is recommended to comfortably take part in walking and outdoor sessions.
The retreat is designed to combine outdoor learning with genuine time to switch off. By keeping group sizes manageable, the team ensures a supportive setting where everyone can take part at their own pace. With accommodation, meals and activities organised in one place, guests can step away from daily routines and focus fully on rest, skill-building and shared experiences.
