Combine rainforest trekking, village cycling and an overnight stay in Cat Ba National Park with a full day cruising Lan Ha Bay and Ha Long Bay. You reach viewpoints above the islands, paddle through caves and swim at quiet beaches away from the main boat routes.
Day one moves from Cat Ba town by speed boat to Viet Hai Village for cycling, trekking to Navy Peak and an overnight bungalow stay in the national park. Day two returns to the water for a cruise through Ha Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay with cave kayaking, lunch on board, swimming at Three Peach Beach and a fish farm visit before returning to Cat Ba.
Lunch in Cat Ba town, dinner in the village, breakfast and lunch on day two, English-speaking guide support, kayaking equipment and national park fees are all included. We can arrange paid transfers from Hanoi or Ninh Binh in advance if you need help reaching Cat Ba.
Cat Ba Island sits within the Cat Ba Archipelago at the edge of Ha Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay in northern Vietnam. Navy Peak and Viet Hai Village lie inside Cat Ba National Park, where rainforest trails climb above karst valleys and isolated hamlets still farm rice in sheltered hollows.
Day two moves onto the water through Lan Ha Bay and into the southern reaches of Ha Long Bay, passing floating villages, sandy coves and limestone islets shaped by the tides. The meeting point in Cat Ba town is a short transfer from Beo Pier, where the speed boat departs for Viet Hai Port.
The trek to Navy Peak is moderate and follows a forest trail with steady uphill sections. You should be comfortable walking for around two hours on uneven ground and coping with humidity in the national park.
Cycling to Viet Hai is mostly flat along village roads, and an electric cart can replace the bike if you prefer. No prior kayaking experience is required for the cave paddling on day two.
This route blends active time on land with a quieter bay cruise, so you see both the national park forests and the limestone seascape in one booking. The overnight in Viet Hai Village places you inside the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve rather than returning to town each evening.
Small groups keep the trekking pace manageable and give time at viewpoints, while the day-two boat visits less crowded parts of Ha Long Bay before returning to Cat Ba in the late afternoon.
After lunch in Cat Ba town you board a speed boat at Beo Pier, passing Cai Beo floating village on the way to Viet Hai Port. From the port you cycle about six kilometres through rice fields and valleys, with an electric cart option if you prefer not to ride, until you reach Viet Hai Village in the heart of the national park.
You leave bags at your bungalow, then hike through rainforest to Navy Peak for wide views over the village and Lan Ha Bay. In the late afternoon you return to the village, check in beside the stream, enjoy dinner locally and have time for a short evening walk before resting for the cruise ahead.
An early start brings breakfast and a cycle back to Viet Hai Port, where you join the cruise boat into the southern part of Ha Long Bay. The route passes sandy beaches and Dau Be Island before stopping for kayaking through Bat Cave and Bright Cave into hidden lagoons.
A set-menu lunch is served on board while the boat continues across Lan Ha Bay past islets such as Pen, Sailing, Frog and Turtle. Time on the sundeck gives a clear view of the karst scenery before the afternoon swim stop.
The boat pauses at Three Peach Beach where you can jump in for swimming and snorkelling in clear water. The return leg includes a visit to a local fish farm to see how floating households work in the bay.
Drinks and snacks are served on deck during the cruise back toward Cat Ba town, with the trip finishing between 17:00 and 17:30 at Beo Pier.
