Experience the thrill of white water kayaking in Chester. Designed for those seeking more control and excitement than traditional white water rafting, this session offers the perfect introduction to kayaking on exhilarating rapids.
Join us at Sandy Lane in Chester, where you'll tackle a thrilling journey down the river, passing through the heart of the town to the impressive Chester Weir. Here, amidst the gorgeous natural surroundings, you'll encounter a set of water steps that have been built for fish to pass up the river, also providing an exciting play spot for kayakers.
Under the guidance of our expert instructors, you'll receive a comprehensive introduction to whitewater kayaking, with no prior experience necessary. By the end of the session, you'll not only have honed your kayaking skills but also conquered your first rapids in your own kayak.
Our adventure begins at Sandy Lane in Chester, offering convenient access to the river and the stunning scenery that surrounds it. From here, we'll paddle downstream through town to the iconic Chester Weir, an exhilarating destination for kayakers.
Participants should be over 12 years old, with any under 18s accompanied by an adult. While prior kayaking experience is not necessary, a degree of fitness and coordination is recommended to fully enjoy and engage in the session's activities.
This experience is roughly 2.5 hours long and the distance paddled over that time is roughly 4 kilometres. The trip involves kayaking on grade 2 whitewater and repeatedly walking over uneven and slippery ground.
As a leading provider of adventure sports activities, we pride ourselves on delivering exciting and memorable experiences for all participants. Our expert instructors ensure a safe and enjoyable session, while our mobile operation allows us to explore the best locations.
Whether you're planning a stag or hen party, a corporate fun day, or a family outing, our white water session promises excitement and adventure for all.
Session times are inclusive of signing in and gearing up, and can be expected to begin at your allotted start time. If you arrive early your instructor may still be on the water with their previous group or preparing for your activity.
If you are early and you identify your instructor, please feel free to go over and say hi, as it may be that you can begin to get ready.
Please bring a bathing suit to wear beneath your wetsuit, a towel to dry off afterwards, and something warm to jump right into. You will get WET.
All of our activities require participants to wear closed-toe footwear throughout, so you must bring a spare pair of shoes to wear one pair on the river and the other on the way home.
Our kayaks are PVC heavy-duty inflatables. Picture a single-person white water raft. These are fun, stable, spacious and easy to steer.
This style of kayak offers the user all of the light-hearted fun and freedom of being in a raft, with the added satisfaction and control of a kayak.
We do have a few tandem kayaks that can be useful where one experienced crew member is assisting one nervous or less capable one. They are harder to steer than the single kayaks however, so we normally suggest everyone use their own.
Marvellous marvellous nature, excellent instructor, very much enjoyed the experience
