What is SDI?
Scuba Diving International (SDI) is the recreational scuba training agency in the same family as Technical Diving International (TDI). It offers entry-level try dives and Open Water programmes through Advanced Adventure, Rescue Diver and professional Divemaster ratings, with eLearning available for much of the theory.
SDI certification cards are recognised at dive centres globally. The agency promotes accessible, skills-focused training and shares instructor standards with TDI, which helps divers who later move into technical pathways. Local centres set schedules, kit policies and pricing.

Choosing a course
Scuba Diver is a shorter supervised qualification; most holiday divers aim for full Open Water through a centre's SDI programme. Rescue Diver expects recent diving and solid self-rescue skills. If your last dive was years ago or you trained with PADI, SSI or BSAC, leave a comment when you book for crossover or refresher advice.
SDI centres package eLearning, kit hire and boat fees differently. Compare listings and confirm junior diver rules, medical forms and whether the centre teaches on holiday timetables or longer local courses.
Official standards
Course requirements, standards and professional pathways are published by SDI at tdisdi.com/sdi. This overview is a guide for booking on adventuro. Your SDI dive centre confirms prerequisites and what is included when you book.
