The Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) licensed UK providers of adventure activities for young people. Understand AALA history when choosing youth providers on adventuro.
The Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) was the UK statutory body that licensed providers of adventure activities for young people under eighteen. It checked safety management systems for activities such as climbing, trekking, watersports and caving before providers could offer sessions to schools and youth groups in scope of the Adventure Activities Licensing Regulations.
Statutory AALA licensing ended in England on 1 April 2015 when those regulations were repealed. Scotland continues statutory licensing for defined adventure activities through HSE Scotland. Wales operates separate arrangements. The AALA name remains a useful shorthand when parents and schools ask whether a provider met former national licensing standards; always check current local requirements and the provider's own accreditations.
AALA was a licensing body rather than a course awarding organisation. Related qualifications and safety training on adventuro include:

When booking adventure activities for under-eighteens, ask the provider about current licensing or accreditation in your nation (England, Scotland or Wales), their safety management policy and instructor qualifications from relevant NGBs. Leave a comment when you book if you need documentation for a school or youth group audit.
adventuro lists experiences from many providers. A historic AALA licence number is not a substitute for checking present-day safeguards, insurance and staff qualifications. The centre confirms what applies when you book.
Historical licensing information and post-2015 guidance are available from HSE at hse.gov.uk/aala and archived material at aala.org. This overview is a guide for booking on adventuro. Your activity provider confirms current compliance and safety arrangements when you book.
