Sarawak is Borneo's cave-and-rainforest state — Gunung Mulu limestone systems, jungle walks and river access that reward travellers who want underground adventure as much as summit days. Kuching is the usual culture and short-rainforest gateway; Mulu needs its own flight or boat logistics and guided cave itineraries. Humidity is constant; plan shorter trail days and treat cave fitness (stairs, uneven floors, headtorches) as part of the brief.
Mulu and jungle
Under Sarawak & Mulu, Sarawak offers show-cave walks for beginners, tougher adventure caving grades, and rainforest hiking between boardwalks and trails. Pair with Sabah if you want Kinabalu plus caves on one Borneo trip.
Getting there
Domestic flight into Mulu is common; build buffer nights for weather delays on small aircraft. Open the Book here tab for cave and rainforest dates — park seats fill in school holidays.
