This is the block most people come to Jordan for. Petra and Wadi Rum share Ma'an. Aqaba is the Red Sea recovery. You can cross it in a long day's drive if you don't stop. Most people should stop. Rum is cold at night even after a 40°C day. Petra is a canyon of walking, not a single photograph. Aqaba is reef time.
Sandstone, desert camps and reef
Petra is all-day hiking and scrambling if you go beyond the Siq and Treasury. Wadi Rum is trekking, climbing and camps. Jeep days exist. They're not the same as moving on foot. Aqaba is scuba and snorkelling, shore and boat, wrecks included. Book Petra tickets and Rum camps ahead in peak spring and autumn.
How to split nights
Two or three nights each for Petra (Wadi Musa) and Rum. Add Aqaba if diving is the point. A single day for Petra and Rum is a rush that misses sunrise in the desert. Dana is a different highland trip. Don't treat it as a photo stop on the way to the Treasury.
