Western Georgia is warm, green and dramatic — a land where subtropical Black Sea coast gives way within an hour to some of the deepest limestone gorges and biggest cave systems in the Caucasus. Centred on the old royal capital of Kutaisi and the seaside city of Batumi, it is the country's canyoning, caving and rafting heartland, and a lush counterpoint to the high mountains inland.
Canyons, caves and rivers
The Okatse and Martvili gorges are made for canyoning, the Prometheus and Sataplia systems for caving, and the Rioni for white-water rafting — all within reach of Kutaisi in Imereti.
Coast and rainforest
