Trade busy tourist routes for quiet mountain trails and hidden countryside as you explore the Balkans on horseback. Designed around your riding ability and preferred pace, this private experience combines scenic riding, local knowledge and beautiful natural surroundings to create a memorable escape from Sofia.
Your adventure begins with a meeting and introduction to your horse before setting off onto trails chosen specifically to match your riding experience. Whether you're completely new to horse riding or have spent years in the saddle, the route is adjusted to ensure you get the most enjoyment from the experience.
Winding forest paths, open countryside and mountain viewpoints create a constantly changing backdrop as you ride through landscapes that many visitors never get to experience. The quieter pace of horseback travel allows you to appreciate the sounds of nature, take in the scenery and enjoy a genuine connection with the surrounding environment.
Guests choosing the privately guided option can also enjoy added convenience through transportation from Sofia, along with the opportunity to visit the historic Glozhene Monastery and enjoy a light lunch as part of the day. The riding routes take place within the beautiful mountain and countryside regions surrounding Sofia, where forests, rolling hills and panoramic viewpoints create ideal conditions for horseback adventures. The area offers a peaceful contrast to the city while remaining easily accessible for visitors.
Many of the trails pass through landscapes typical of the Balkan region, featuring woodland tracks, open meadows and mountain scenery. Depending on the chosen route and riding ability, you may also encounter traditional rural areas that provide a glimpse into a slower pace of life away from the capital.
No previous horse riding experience is required, as routes are adapted to suit individual ability levels. Beginners receive guidance throughout the experience, while more experienced riders can enjoy routes that make the most of their confidence and riding skills.
Comfortable outdoor clothing and suitable footwear are recommended. Long trousers are advised for additional comfort while riding, and bringing weather-appropriate layers will help ensure an enjoyable experience throughout the day.
Every ride is tailored specifically around the rider rather than following a fixed route for every group. This creates a more enjoyable and personalised experience, whether you're looking for a gentle introduction to horse riding or a scenic adventure through the countryside.
Experienced local guides, carefully selected horses and flexible route planning combine to create an experience that feels authentic and relaxed. The focus is on enjoying the journey, the scenery and the unique experience of exploring the Balkans from the saddle.
