Private guided mountain bike rides give you the chance to enjoy the best trails without the hassle of planning the route. Whether you want to challenge yourself on technical descents, spend a relaxed day out with the family, or explore new trails tailored to your riding style, this experience is all about making your time on the bike enjoyable and memorable.
Each ride is designed around your individual or group needs, with the guide handling all route planning so you can simply turn up and ride. Whether you're new to mountain biking, returning after some time away, or looking for new terrain to challenge yourself, the guide will tailor the ride to your fitness level, experience, and ambitions. You’ll be supported every step of the way, with the option to take it easy or push your limits depending on the group’s preference.
You’ll be riding through some of the most rewarding landscapes the UK has to offer—from flowing single-track to rocky climbs, and everything in between. With years of experience exploring National Parks and lesser-known gems, the guide will choose routes that bring out the best of the area while ensuring the experience remains safe, enjoyable, and well-paced. You’ll be encouraged to take breaks when needed, soak up the surroundings, and finish the day with a sense of accomplishment—whether that comes from the distance ridden, the fun had, or the challenges overcome.
These rides take place across some of the best riding locations that the Peak District has to offer. Each recommended location is selected based on your preference, fitness, and riding goals.
The guide has deep knowledge of riding in the Peak District, having spent years riding and exploring here. Expect to be taken along the best local lines, hidden trails, and scenic routes that are well away from the usual crowded paths.
Participants should be comfortable riding off-road and have a basic level of fitness suitable for 4–8 hours of cycling. However, the route will always be planned with your fitness and experience level in mind, and regular breaks are factored in.
You’ll need to bring your own mountain bike in good working order, an undamaged cycling-specific helmet, water, snacks or lunch, and appropriate clothing for changeable weather. A basic repair kit including an inner tube, pump, and multi-tool is essential. Your guide will carry extras, but it’s always good to come prepared.
The recommended minimum age is 16. Younger riders may be allowed to join if riding with a parent or guardian.
The centre is run by a passionate team of riders who know how important it is to have a ride that suits your ability, preferences, and goals. With British Cycling qualifications and Outdoor First Aid certification, safety and quality are at the core of every guided ride. The team takes pride in offering a professional but relaxed experience that leaves riders feeling confident and inspired to ride more.
At the heart of the business is Steve. His enthusiasm for exploring the outdoors on two wheels has taken him across trails of all kinds, and he brings that same energy to every guided ride. Whether it’s technical riding or a social spin through scenic landscapes, he believes mountain biking is not only great exercise, but one of the best ways to enjoy the outdoors.
The ride is suitable for cyclists aged 16 and over with a basic level of fitness and bike handling skills. Riders should be comfortable cycling on mixed terrain including gravel, trails, and some gentle climbs. If you’re newer to cycling or returning after a break, it’s best to have completed some local rides to build confidence before joining.
Younger riders are welcome if accompanied by a parent or guardian who can manage their pace and safety. The ride leader can offer guidance on routes and pacing to match the group’s abilities, ensuring everyone enjoys the experience without feeling overwhelmed or under-challenged.
A mountain bike or gravel bike is recommended for this ride due to the varied terrain and off-road sections. These bikes provide better control and comfort on loose surfaces and uneven paths. Road bikes may struggle on rougher sections and are not advised for this route.
If you do not have your own suitable bike, local hire options are available and can be arranged separately. It’s important that your bike is well-maintained, with good brakes and tyres appropriate for off-road use to ensure safety and comfort during the ride.
It’s important to bring suitable cycling clothing, including layers that can be added or removed depending on the weather. A helmet is essential for safety, as well as gloves and glasses to protect your hands and eyes from branches, insects, or sun. Take a small pack or saddlebag with essentials like water, snacks, and basic repair tools.
You may also want to bring a waterproof jacket and spare clothing in case of rain or cooler temperatures. Personal items such as sunscreen, a phone for emergencies, and some cash are also advisable. The ride leader will provide any specific advice during the pre-ride briefing.
Cycling outdoors means dealing with all types of weather, so the ride usually goes ahead unless conditions are dangerous, such as severe storms or flooding. Participants should prepare for wet and muddy conditions by wearing waterproof clothing and bringing appropriate gear.
If the weather forces cancellation, advance notice will be given, and options for rescheduling or refunds will be discussed. The ride leader monitors conditions closely to ensure the safety of the group at all times.
To maintain safety and a good experience for everyone, group size is limited to a maximum of eight riders per session.
This ensures the leader can manage the group effectively, provide individual support, and keep the ride organised.
The ride leader carries basic tools and spare parts to help with common mechanical problems such as punctures or minor adjustments. Assistance is available to get you back on the trail as quickly as possible.
For more serious mechanical failures, the group may assist in arranging transport or walking the bike back to the start point. Participants are encouraged to carry their own repair kits for peace of mind and minor repairs.
Yes, you are encouraged to bring your own food and drinks to keep energy levels up throughout the ride. Water is essential, and energy snacks such as bars or fruit can help maintain stamina on longer sections.
The ride includes scheduled breaks where participants can refuel, but there are no planned stops at cafes or shops. Bringing adequate supplies means you stay comfortable and hydrated at all times.
