See the landscapes surrounding Siena from an entirely new perspective as you drift quietly above vineyards, castles and rolling hills. Whether you choose a shared flight or a private experience, this early morning adventure combines peaceful flying with unforgettable views and a celebratory breakfast after landing.
Your morning begins after the final weather assessment, with your exact meeting point, meeting time and Google Maps location sent to you the afternoon or evening before your flight. Launch locations are selected according to the weather to provide the safest flying conditions around Siena and the surrounding Tuscan countryside. If you've arranged an optional hotel transfer in advance, you'll be collected before travelling to the launch site.
After meeting your pilot and ground crew, you'll receive a full safety briefing explaining the flight and landing procedures. As the balloon is prepared, you're welcome to watch the inflation or even help as it fills with hot air before stepping into the basket. Once airborne, you'll gently rise between approximately 500 and 3,000 feet, allowing the wind to guide your journey across the countryside.
The scenery changes throughout the flight, with panoramic views across vineyards, olive groves, cypress-lined roads, historic villas, medieval villages and centuries-old castles surrounding Siena. Every balloon flight follows a different route depending on the day's wind conditions, making each experience unique while offering a peaceful way to appreciate one of Italy's best-known regions from above.
Following a gentle landing, the ground crew will be waiting to meet the balloon before transferring you back to the original launch area. Before continuing your day, you'll enjoy a picnic-style breakfast with local products, a fresh croissant and a glass of sparkling wine to celebrate your flight.
Flights take place around Siena, one of Tuscany's most famous historic cities, with launch sites selected according to the day's weather conditions. Your confirmed meeting point is sent after the final weather check to ensure the most suitable departure location.
The countryside surrounding Siena is known for its rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves and medieval villages. Flying above this landscape offers a completely different view of the region, with every route shaped naturally by the direction of the wind.
No previous ballooning experience is needed, making this activity suitable for both first-time flyers and those celebrating a special occasion. Children are normally welcome from 4 years old when accompanied by an adult.
Wear comfortable clothing suitable for the season together with flat, closed-toe footwear. Requests for younger children can be considered individually depending on height, safety requirements and the expected flying conditions.
With more than 30 years of experience, flights are operated by an ENAC-certified hot air balloon operator committed to delivering safe, reliable and memorable experiences. Experienced commercial pilots, professional ground crews and carefully maintained equipment help ensure every flight runs smoothly from beginning to end.
Launch sites are selected according to daily weather conditions, allowing each flight to make the most of Tuscany's landscapes while maintaining the highest safety standards. From your pre-flight briefing through to the return transfer after landing, every detail is carefully organised for an enjoyable experience.
A shared flight allows you to enjoy the experience alongside other passengers, making it a great choice if you're happy to meet fellow travellers while taking in the scenery together.
A private flight offers the same route and experience but with a basket reserved exclusively for your booking, making it particularly popular for anniversaries, proposals, birthdays and other special occasions.
All flights operate early in the morning when weather conditions are generally at their calmest. The exact meeting time changes throughout the year depending on sunrise, seasonal temperatures and the forecast.
Your confirmed meeting time and location will be sent after the final weather check, usually the afternoon or evening before your scheduled flight.
You'll spend around one hour in the air, although the exact flight time can vary slightly depending on wind conditions and where the balloon lands safely.
Allow approximately 2.5 to 3 hours for the complete experience, including arrival, the safety briefing, balloon preparation, breakfast after landing and the return transfer.
As you float above the Tuscan countryside, you'll enjoy views across rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves, traditional villas, historic castles and picturesque villages surrounding Siena.
