Watching the Tuscan countryside slowly unfold beneath you is an experience unlike any other. This private hot air balloon flight combines peaceful scenery, unforgettable views and a celebratory breakfast, making it ideal for marking a special occasion or simply seeing Tuscany from a different perspective.
Before your flight, you'll receive confirmation of your exact meeting point, meeting time and Google Maps location following the final weather check, usually during the afternoon or evening beforehand. Launch sites are generally around San Casciano in Val di Pesa, approximately 20 minutes from Florence, although they may vary to suit the weather conditions. If you've arranged an optional hotel transfer in advance, you'll be collected before travelling to the launch area.
Once you arrive, you'll meet your pilot and ground crew before taking part in a full safety briefing. As the balloon is prepared, you'll have the opportunity to watch it come to life and, if you wish, help with the inflation before stepping into the basket. After take-off, you'll gently climb between around 500 and 3,000 feet, floating wherever the wind naturally carries you.
From above, you'll enjoy uninterrupted views across vineyards, olive groves, cypress-lined roads, medieval villages and historic castles that make Tuscany one of Italy's most recognisable regions. Every flight follows a different path depending on the wind, meaning no two experiences are ever exactly the same. On clear mornings, you may even spot San Gimignano, Poggibonsi and Pisa in the distance.
Following a gentle landing, your ground crew will be waiting to greet you before transferring you back to the original launch point. Before returning, you'll celebrate your flight with a glass of Champagne and a picnic-style breakfast including fresh croissants and locally produced specialities, giving you plenty of time to reflect on the morning's experience.
Flights operate from the countryside surrounding San Casciano in Val di Pesa, right in the heart of Tuscany's famous Chianti region. The exact launch site depends on the day's weather conditions and is selected to provide the safest and most enjoyable flight possible.
Rolling vineyards, olive groves, historic villages and centuries-old castles create a landscape that's instantly recognisable around the world. Every route is different, offering a fresh perspective on Tuscany each time the balloon takes to the sky.
No previous experience is required, making this an excellent choice for first-time balloon passengers as well as those celebrating a birthday, anniversary or other special occasion. Children are normally welcome from 4 years old when accompanied by an adult.
Comfortable clothing suitable for the weather and flat, closed-toe shoes are recommended. Requests for children below the usual minimum age can be considered individually, depending on height, safety requirements and expected flight conditions.
Operating for more than 30 years, this ENAC-certified hot air balloon operator places safety, reliability and customer experience at the heart of every flight. Experienced commercial pilots, professional ground crews and carefully maintained equipment ensure every stage of your journey is handled with care.
Weather conditions are assessed before every departure to select the most suitable launch site and flight path for the day. From your initial safety briefing to the return transfer after landing, every detail is organised so you can focus on enjoying your time above the Tuscan countryside.
Most people can enjoy this experience, even if it's their first time flying in a balloon. The minimum age is normally 4 years old, and children must always be accompanied by an adult throughout the experience.
If you'd like to bring a younger child, the team can assess your request individually. Factors such as height, weather conditions and overall safety are considered before confirming whether participation is possible.
You should allow around three hours from arrival to departure. This includes meeting the crew, the safety briefing, balloon preparation, the flight itself, breakfast after landing and your transfer back to the launch area.
The flight in the air lasts approximately one hour, although this can vary slightly depending on weather conditions and the most suitable landing location on the day.
Your exact meeting point is confirmed after the final weather check, which usually takes place the afternoon or evening before your flight. You'll receive your meeting time together with a Google Maps location.
Flights generally launch from around San Casciano in Val di Pesa, but the exact location may change according to wind conditions to ensure the safest possible experience.
Every balloon flight follows the direction of the wind, meaning each journey is unique. As you drift across the countryside, you'll enjoy wide views over vineyards, olive groves, rolling hills, medieval villages and historic castles.
Clear weather can also reveal famous landmarks and distant towns including San Gimignano, Poggibonsi and, on exceptional days, even Pisa.
Yes. Flights are operated by an ENAC-certified hot air balloon operator with more than three decades of commercial experience and a strong commitment to safety.
Every flight begins with a detailed safety briefing, while weather conditions are continually monitored before departure. If conditions aren't suitable, the flight will be postponed rather than flown in unsafe weather.
Dress comfortably for the season and wear flat, closed-toe shoes suitable for standing on uneven ground. Early morning temperatures can feel cooler than later in the day, so an extra layer is often useful.
No specialist clothing or equipment is required, as everything needed for the balloon flight is provided by the crew.
