All centres are vetted for safety and quality. Your adventure is in good hands with adventuro.
This session is designed for beginners, so no prior canyoning experience is required. Your guide will provide full instruction on the day, including how to use the equipment and techniques for moving through the canyon safely.
That said, you should feel confident in water, be comfortable walking on uneven ground, and be physically able to handle short climbs and descents. If you’re unsure whether it’s suitable, feel free to ask ahead of booking.
Expect a mix of activities including walking, climbing over rocks, jumping into pools, sliding down natural water chutes, and some short rappels. The jumps and slides vary in height but are manageable for those with a basic level of confidence.
The terrain is varied and changes depending on water levels and the season. Your guide will assess conditions on the day and adjust the activity to suit the group’s ability while keeping it fun and safe.
You’ll need to bring swimwear to wear under your wetsuit, a towel, a change of dry clothes, and sturdy trainers or canyoning shoes you don’t mind getting wet. Avoid sandals or open-toe shoes.
Bring at least 1.5L of water, snacks or a light sandwich, sunscreen, and sunglasses. An underwater or waterproof camera is optional, but your hands will often be busy during the activity.
Yes, all technical gear is included in the session. This covers a certified climbing harness, helmet, wetsuit, booties, a waterproof container, and any group equipment such as ropes and carabiners.
The equipment is regularly inspected and maintained to meet safety standards. If you're unsure how to use any of the kit, your guide will go over everything before entering the canyon.
The Coanegra Ravine is suitable for most people with average fitness. The canyon descent itself takes about 3 hours, and there’s a short approach and a steady hike back out of the valley lasting roughly 1 hour and 20 minutes.
You don’t need to be a seasoned athlete, but be prepared for a bit of scrambling, walking in water, and climbing up uneven paths. If you're used to going on hikes or doing other outdoor sports, you should find it very manageable.
Safety always comes first, and your guide will monitor the weather and water conditions leading up to the day. Heavy rain can make the canyon unsafe, so sessions may be rescheduled or moved to another location if needed.
You’ll be contacted in advance if the weather forces a change. If the session can't go ahead, you’ll be offered an alternative date or a full refund, depending on your preference.
While you won’t be swimming long distances, some sections involve wading or floating through pools. A basic ability to stay afloat and be comfortable in water is important, even though you’ll be wearing a buoyant wetsuit.
If you're not a strong swimmer but are confident around water, let your guide know when booking. They’ll be able to advise whether this session is suitable or suggest alternatives.
Toni was a great guide! It was an excellent day out and a great experience. The canyoning includes 1 hour hike in, 2.5 hour canyon and 1.5 hour hike out. Be prepared for some walking! Also don't forget your car keys in the shuttle car like we did...
Our climbing instructor Domingo was excellent. Calm and assured, with emphasis on safety and ensuring we were climbing within our limits.
