Agafay stone and sand stretch beneath open sky on a three-hour buggy run from Marrakesh, with the High Atlas on the horizon on clear days. Hotel collection is included, and the whole window covers the drive out and back.
Stone desert opens wide beneath the buggy line, with pale gravel, low ridges and the Atlas range floating on the horizon when the air is clear. The run has a raw, cinematic feel, with dust plumes rising behind each vehicle and the plateau stretching empty in every direction.
Pace and spacing stay controlled as the convoy threads over sandy patches and rocky ground, with occasional stops to regroup and take in the scale of the landscape. The outing is short but intense, a concentrated burst of off-road energy rather than a leisurely cruise.
Agafay sits south-west of Marrakesh, a bare stone and sand plateau rather than a palm grove or a Sahara dune sea. The run stays in this desert, with the High Atlas as a backdrop on clear days. Routes change with other vehicles and with how dry the ground is.
Collection covers hotels in the Marrakesh area. Be ready in the window you are given because traffic out of the city toward Agafay can slow the van.
No previous off-road driving is required. You should be happy on a noisy, dusty buggy for the desert section of a three-hour window, and willing to follow a lead vehicle. Mention children, infants and animals when you confirm rather than assuming every age or pet will fit a desert buggy.
Wear closed shoes, a scarf or buff for the sand, and sun protection. Eat before pickup because lunch is not included. Say if anyone in the group would rather sit as a passenger so the crew can pair seats at the briefing.
Hotel collection and a three-hour Agafay window make this a simple first desert buggy if you are staying in Marrakesh and do not want a long transfer toward the Sahara. The plateau is close enough that more of the outing is on the tracks and less on the road, with Atlas views on a clear day.
The crew brief you before you leave the base and keep the group on a guided line rather than sending you out alone. If heat or a sand-laden wind makes the run a poor idea, they can delay or change the plan rather than forcing a dusty loop in poor conditions.
We'll collect you from your Marrakesh hotel and takes you out to the Agafay plateau. Be ready in the pickup window with closed shoes, dusty clothes and sun protection. Give your hotel name when you book so they can find the right gate.
The crew brief you on the buggy, then you follow a guided line over Agafay stone, sand and rocky tracks with Atlas views on clear days. Expect dust and a bouncing seat. Stay on the marked line and say at the briefing if you would rather sit than drive.
Take a relaxing break and enjoy traditional Moroccan tea.
After the desert run you transfer back to your hotel. Keep a little extra time either side of the three-hour window so a late pickup does not squeeze the tracks.
Yes. Collection from hotels in the Marrakesh area is part of this outing. Give your hotel name when you book so the driver can find the right gate, and be ready in the window you are given because the road out toward Agafay can slow the van.
A return to your hotel after the desert run is part of the same transfer. Arriving late at reception cuts into time on the tracks because the whole window is about three hours, not a full day in the dunes.
The whole outing is about three hours including hotel collection, the Agafay buggy run and the drive back. Time on the tracks sits inside that window and can shift with briefing, other vehicles and how dry the ground is.
Keep a little extra time either side so you are not rushing. This is a desert buggy window near Marrakesh, not an overnight camp.
No previous off-road driving is required. The crew brief you on the buggy, the line through the dunes and how to follow the lead vehicle. You should still be happy on a noisy, dusty, bouncing machine for the desert section of the three-hour window.
Say if you would rather sit as a passenger than drive. Follow the guide on spacing, and do not overtake unless they tell you to. Closed shoes matter even on an easy-rated run.
Infants must sit on laps. A desert buggy is loud, dusty and bumpy, so mention ages when you confirm your place so the crew can advise.
Pets are allowed, so say if you hope to bring an animal rather than arriving with one unannounced.
Wear closed shoes, clothes you can get dusty, and a scarf or buff for the sand. Shorts and flip-flops are a poor match for a buggy floor and for stone desert. A light long sleeve helps with sun on the Agafay plateau.
Bring sunglasses that will stay on, sunscreen and water for the drive. Keep phones in a zipped pocket or a small dry bag. You do not need your own off-road kit.
Lunch is not included. Eat before you leave the hotel if you will be out over a meal time. Extra drinks and snacks are your own to buy.
A camel walk and a village visit are optional extras, not part of this buggy run. Do not assume a camel or a sit-down meal unless you have arranged them separately when you confirm.
The run uses the Agafay Desert, a stone and sand plateau south-west of Marrakesh, with Atlas views on clear days. It is not a Sahara dune camp with an overnight tent.
Exact tracks change with other vehicles and with how dry the ground is. Treat it as a desert loop rather than a fixed sightseeing circuit with named stops. Follow the lead buggy and keep to the line they set.
The outing is for one to fifteen guests. Smaller groups are common, but you should be ready to share the desert window with other booked buggies rather than assuming a private vehicle for two.
Book for everyone who will ride, including children. Mention who wants to drive and who would rather sit as a passenger when you confirm, so the crew can pair seats.
Agafay can run in light heat or a breeze, but a sand-laden wind, heavy rain or extreme heat can make the tracks unpleasant or unsafe. The outing is mildly affected by weather rather than tied to a perfect blue sky.
If the crew judge the run a poor idea, they may delay or change the plan. Have a loose idea for the rest of the day so a hold does not wreck the whole morning. You will be told as early as they can once conditions are clear.
You can ask to drive or to sit as a passenger at the briefing. The crew pair seats so someone who wants a quieter ride can sit while another guest takes the wheel when that is possible.
Say this when you confirm as well as at the base, because buggy numbers and group size affect how they split drivers. Follow the lead vehicle either way, and keep both hands ready if you are the one driving.
