Within the woodland grounds of a historic Yorkshire estate, this air rifle shooting session offers a focused and rewarding way to test your aim. Guided instruction, varied targets and a structured setup help build confidence from the very first shot. The experience blends skill development with a relaxed outdoor setting, making it ideal for groups or anyone trying something new.
Beginning at the outdoor shooting range, the session starts with a full safety briefing followed by an introduction to the air rifles and shooting techniques. The instructor explains stance, grip and breathing control, helping you understand how small adjustments can improve accuracy.
Early rounds focus on getting comfortable with the equipment, using a range of targets set at different distances. As the session progresses, guidance becomes more tailored, with tips to refine aim and build consistency. Covered shooting bays provide shelter, allowing the activity to run comfortably in different weather conditions.
Later stages introduce more structured shooting challenges, giving you the chance to test progress and compare results within the group. The session finishes at the range after completing your allocated shooting time, with a clear sense of improvement from start to finish.

Dogs are very welcome to join you during your visit to Hazlewood Castle. Many guests enjoy being outdoors with their pets, and having your dog along can add to the overall experience. For everyone’s safety and enjoyment, dogs must always remain on a lead, and owners are expected to clean up after their pets.
We also ask that dogs are well-behaved and comfortable around groups of people and other dogs. If your dog is nervous or excitable in busy settings, it might be worth considering whether they’ll be happy during your visit. By following these simple guidelines, you and your dog can enjoy a relaxed and positive experience.

The site offers comfortable areas where they can sit back with a coffee, take in the surroundings, and watch the action unfold.
Having spectators often adds to the fun, giving participants a boost of encouragement and a friendly cheer from the sidelines. It’s also a great way for non-participants to get a feel for the activities on offer, perhaps inspiring them to join in next time.
