Szentendre Bike, E-Bike and Boat Tour

All bikes provided come with racks, and if needed, we supply a bungee cord to secure your belongings. Evening tours use bikes fitted with lights to ensure visibility and safety after dark. You’re welcome to bring your own bike, but it must be roadworthy to keep pace with the group. Our guides are only trained to maintain the bikes we provide, so if you have mechanical issues with your own bike, you may need to manage those yourself.

There is a discount available if you bring your own bike, so please contact us via the adventuro chat to enquire. Remember, the quality and condition of your bike are important to ensure you don’t get left behind during the ride.

Tours proceed at a relaxed, leisurely pace with plenty of opportunities for photos and rest stops, so you don’t need to be a strong cyclist to keep up. If you can ride a bike comfortably, you should have no problem staying with the group. Every tour includes at least one scheduled break for drinks and toilet stops.

Some tours include additional refreshments or meals, such as the Wheels and Meals tour that stops for a traditional Goulash, or the Easy Breezy tour that offers a summer drink. These breaks are designed to keep you comfortable and refreshed throughout the ride.

Safety is a key priority. The routes are designed mainly to use quiet back streets and cycle paths, with some short sections on roads. Before the ride begins, guides provide a thorough safety briefing, and they stay close to the group at all times to assist and make riders feel comfortable. Our guides are fully trained in safety, leadership, and customer care, and the tours have an excellent safety record with only minor incidents.

If mechanical issues arise, such as punctures or small repairs, the guides are trained to fix them quickly to get you back on the road. Should any problem be beyond their ability to fix, alternative arrangements will be made to keep the tour running smoothly.

Group tours are suitable for children aged 10 and over who are competent cyclists and comfortable riding near traffic. Children younger than 10 are not permitted on group tours. The guide or management has the final say on whether a child may join a particular tour to ensure safety. For families with younger children or those wanting to use tag-along bikes or child seats, private tours are available. These allow all ages and bike types and offer a more customised experience.

Child seats or tag-along attachments are not permitted on group tours due to safety and logistics. If you want to use these options, booking a private family tour is the recommended way to include younger riders safely.

All guides are professional, local experts who are friendly and knowledgeable about Budapest’s history, culture, and current city life. They receive training not only in guiding but also in safety, customer service, and leadership. This means they are well-prepared to create an enjoyable and informative experience for all participants.

During the ride, guides stop at key landmarks to share interesting stories and facts about the sights, and they allow time for questions and photographs. The tours are designed to balance sightseeing with relaxed cycling, ensuring everyone gets a chance to learn while enjoying the ride.

Tours run regardless of the weather, so please be prepared for rain or shine by dressing accordingly. Riding in light rain is part of the experience, and the guides will help make sure everyone stays comfortable and safe no matter the conditions.

All tours start and finish at 1052 Budapest, Deák Ferenc tér 4, by the Lutheran church steps. From this meeting point, there is a short three-minute walk to the bike store where the tour officially begins and ends. This central location is easy to find and convenient for participants.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your tour’s scheduled start time to allow time for check-in and bike fitting. Tours leave promptly to keep to the planned itinerary, so late arrivals risk missing part or all of the ride.

For clothing, wear something appropriate for the weather and enclosed shoes suitable for cycling. Small bags or backpacks can be secured on the bike racks or carried in pockets. Larger items, including jackets or extra bags, can usually be left safely at the bike store during the tour.

Helmets are provided free of charge and are strongly recommended for safety, though they are not legally required in Hungary. Wearing one helps protect you in case of a fall or accident and is encouraged for all riders regardless of experience.

Most tours allow you to leave bags or jackets securely at the bike store while you ride, so you don’t need to carry anything unnecessary during the tour. If you have special items or concerns, you can check with your guide or the staff before starting.

Stopping regularly at each point of interest means there is plenty of time to capture great photos without feeling rushed. Your guide will also point out the best spots for memorable pictures, helping you make the most of your camera or phone.

In addition to landmarks like the House of Parliament and Margaret Island, the natural scenery along the Danube and the charming streets of Szentendre offer excellent photo opportunities. You’ll have time during the walking tour and free time in town to take as many photos as you wish.

Two return options are offered depending on the day and season. On Fridays during the spring to autumn months, participants enjoy a relaxing one-hour boat cruise along the Danube back to Budapest, providing a scenic end to the day.

On Mondays throughout the year, the return trip is by train, offering a faster, comfortable journey. Both options are included in the price and provide a safe and convenient way to finish the tour, followed by a short cycle back to the starting point.
