This experience offers the UK’s first permanent bridge swing, positioned 40 metres above the River Garry in Highland Perthshire. Over the course of one hour, participants enjoy a controlled free fall followed by a swinging arc from a specially designed platform. With experienced jump masters overseeing every step, it’s a safe and thrilling activity for those looking to push their limits.
Upon arrival at the Killiecrankie Visitor Centre, you will meet your jump masters who will provide a comprehensive safety briefing and fit you with a full body harness. Once fully prepared and secured, you will be led onto the custom-built platform hanging beneath the Garry Bridge. The moment the release mechanism is triggered, you experience a free fall of around 15 metres before the swing rope arrests the descent and propels you into an arcing motion.
As you swing, you will glide across the river gorge, surrounded by woodland, creating a memorable sense of weightlessness and exposure. After the swing comes to a natural stop, a winch system will gently return you to the platform. The entire experience, including preparation and recovery, lasts roughly one hour and is designed to suit participants ready for an adrenaline challenge in a controlled environment.
Nestled close to the historic battlefield of Killiecrankie, the swing platform is suspended beneath the Garry Bridge in Highland Perthshire. This location overlooks a deep gorge carved by the River Garry and is surrounded by mature trees, offering a remarkable outdoor setting. Killiecrankie sits about 15 miles south of Pitlochry and is easily accessible by road, with parking available at the adjacent visitor centre.
The visitor centre acts as the main hub for operations and welcomes participants to park and prepare. A short walk from the centre leads to the swing platform, with the surrounding natural landscape popular among walkers and outdoor enthusiasts. Spectators are encouraged to attend and take in the scenic surroundings while watching participants in action.
Participants need to weigh between 35kg and 120kg and be aged 10 or older, with those over 65 advised to seek medical approval before taking part. Pregnant individuals are not permitted to swing for safety reasons. It is best to wear practical outdoor clothing and footwear, and waist harnesses fit sizes ranging from 40cm to 125cm to ensure comfort and security.
Those with existing medical conditions or health concerns should consult their doctor prior to booking, particularly if they fall within the older age range or have any doubts about their suitability. The activity welcomes a broad range of ages and abilities, with safety protocols in place to accommodate individual needs. The design of the experience prioritises inclusion while maintaining strict safety standards.
Behind the operation is a team of dedicated and knowledgeable professionals who bring a wealth of outdoor experience. Laurie, the Operations Manager, has extensive expertise in adventure sports and ensures every session runs safely and efficiently. Douglas contributes a lively and encouraging presence that helps put participants at ease. Debbie, as the team’s first female jump master, adds valuable experience from other outdoor disciplines, enhancing the professionalism of the team.
The combination of advanced equipment, thorough safety measures, and a friendly approach has earned this swing a reputation for excellence in the UK. The team prides themselves on providing personalised support for each participant, creating an experience that is both safe and memorable. Their passion for outdoor adventure ensures every swing is handled with care and enthusiasm.
Yes, there are optional media packages available to capture your experience. You can choose a photo-only package, a video-only package, or a combined photo and video bundle. Each is priced per person and recorded by staff using mounted cameras positioned at key points along the session—whether that's the bungee platform, zip line run, or landing zones.
The photo package includes a selection of high-quality action shots taken at the most exciting moments. The video option features edited clips that capture your reactions and the activity from start to finish. If you’d like both, the combined package offers the best value and can be purchased upon completion of the activity.
The experience begins with a safety briefing led by the jump masters, who will explain the procedures and answer any questions you have. You’ll be fitted with a full body harness, which is designed to keep you secure throughout the swing. Once you are ready, you will be guided onto the specially constructed platform beneath the Garry Bridge, suspended 40 metres above the River Garry.
At the moment of release, you enter a free fall of approximately 15 metres before the swing rope arrests your fall and propels you into a wide arc beneath the platform. This swinging motion allows you to experience the sensation of weightlessness and the thrill of flying across the gorge. Once the swing slows, you will be winched gently back up to the platform where the session concludes.
Safety is a top priority for the entire team. The swing uses the latest technology and high-quality safety equipment, including full body harnesses and specialised rigging. Each session is supervised by experienced and qualified jump masters who are trained to manage all aspects of the swing safely.
In addition to equipment checks before every jump, the jump masters continuously monitor conditions and participant readiness. The winching system ensures a controlled and safe return to the platform. Participants are given clear instructions to ensure they understand the process and can enjoy the experience confidently.
Participants must weigh between 35kg and 120kg to ensure the harness and rigging fit securely and function correctly. The minimum age for participation is 10 years old. Anyone over 65 years must provide medical clearance from their doctor before taking part to ensure their health allows for the physical demands of the swing.
There is no strict upper age limit beyond the medical advice for older participants. This wide range makes the swing accessible to a broad audience, as long as safety requirements and health guidelines are followed.
For safety reasons, pregnant individuals are not permitted to participate in the bridge swing. This precaution is to avoid any risk to both the participant and unborn child due to the nature of the free fall and swinging motion involved.
Those who are expecting are encouraged to wait until after their pregnancy before taking part. The team welcomes all participants at a safe time and looks forward to offering the experience once it is suitable.
It is recommended to wear sensible, comfortable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear suitable for walking on uneven ground near the swing platform. Avoid loose items that could get caught in equipment or distract you during the swing.
Clothing that allows freedom of movement will help you feel more comfortable during the experience. The team also provides waist harnesses that accommodate a wide range of sizes, so you only need to focus on appropriate clothing and footwear.
